While cleaning up the .xml file that drives my front end (EmuLaunch), I got to wondering what games folks keep on the "main" list in their cabinets. This is my "public" game list, roughly 170 titles. It's not strictly in alphabetical order, because (a) EmuLaunch sorts by ROM name instead of game title, and I haven't fixed all of those errors, and (b) I've customized the list to put sequel games after originals, and there are some intentional duplicates as a result (you can get to Stargate either under Defender or by its own name, for instance):
1942, '88 Games, Abscam, Aliens, Alpine Ski, Amidar, Arabian, Arkanoid, Armor Attack, Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Astro Blaster, Barrier, Battle Zone, Berzerk, Frenzy, Black Widow, Blasteroids, Blue Print, Boot Hill, Bosconian, Boxing Bugs, Bubbles, Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom, Burger Time, Carnival, Centipede, Millipede, Cloak & Dagger, Congo Bongo, Cosmic Alien, Cosmic Avenger, Cosmic Chasm, Cosmos, Crazy Climber, Crush Roller, Dark Planet, Defender, Defender ("Star Trek" bootleg), Stargate, Dig Dug, Dig Dug 2, Donkey Kong, Crazy Kong, Donkey Kong Junior, Donkey Kong 3, Discs of Tron, Elevator Action, Eliminator, Eyes, Frenzy, Frogger, Galaxian, Galaga, Galaga '88, Gaplus, Ghosts'n Goblins, Ghouls'n Ghosts, Gorf, Gravitar, Galaxy Rescue, Gyruss, Gun Fight, Hyper Sports, Hyper Olympic, Invader's Revenge, Jump Bug, Jungle King, Journey, Joust, Joust 2 - Survival of the Fittest, Kangaroo, Kaos, Kickman, Krull, Kung-Fu Master, Lady Bug, Lost Tomb, Lunar Lander, Lunar Rescue, Mad Planets, Major Havoc, Major Havoc (Return to Vax), Make Trax, Mappy, Mario Bros., Millipede, Missile Command, Moon Cresta, Moonwar, Moon Patrol, Moon Shuttle, Mouse Trap, Mr. Do!, Mr. Do's Wild Ride, Ms. Pac-Man, New Rally X, New York! Glancing through it just now, it occurred to me that I don't have a single true "Fighter" up front, and nothing newer than Aliens (1990--by far the most "modern" on the list). Might have to add Mortal Kombat and maybe a Golden Tee for guests, even though I don't care about either one personally. I've also left out games that aren't suited to my control panel (Star Wars yoke games--although I couldn't resist leaving in Star Wars itself--Sundance, etc.).
Obviously, this is a very limited subset for the "public" front end. I have other FE's with much more extensive lists (basically everything minus Mahjong and very modern games that I didn't bother with) for when I really want to dig around in MAME, plus Daphne and a bunch of old console emulators (Atari and Colecovision), but this is what's up front most of the time.
How about the rest of you?
EDIT: Having the list in front of me helps to point out gaps... added Arkanoid and Gyruss after saying to myself, "Self, why don't you have Arkanoid and Gyruss on there?"
