Joystick to pair with OMNI2
« on: January 28, 2012, 08:28:10 am »
I'm putting together a MAME cab and want the player1 stick to be 4/8-way switchable.  So far, I've decided on the OMNI2 as a solution.  I don't see much point in spending the extra money to use an OMNI for player2 as well.  What 8-way stick would you guys recommend for P2 that would be the same height as the OMNI2 and would have a similar feel?  I am hoping to order everything from GGG so would the Roundhouse, Spitfire, or Zippyy be suitable?  Or should I just spend the extra $18 or whatever to avoid the hassle?

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar setup. Used the spitfire. Play is great and only visual difference is shaft is about 1/16 thinner on spitfire than omni. You can check pics in my sig link.

If you want an 8-way only version of the same stick, order 2 OMNI2's (in whatever configuration you want), and state in the order comments that you want one to be a fixed 8-way.  We'll give you a good discount on the cost of the second one.

Le Chuck:  Thanks for the response.  I checked out your bartop, it is Le Awesome!  I've never been a fan of bartops but after seeing yours I may just build one of my own.  BTW, that servo mod is epic.

Randy:  Cool!  I'll do just that.  I'll likely be putting in my order in the next few days.  Thanks.

Totally wish I had thought to do that now.  Oh well, live and learn.  I have more to buy from you anyway Randy.

RabidRabit - kind words indeed, really appreciate it.  It was a fun project and I just have a few loose ends to wrap up on it software wise.

I'm also looking at doing the same thing with my control panel as was described in the thread. If I order the Omni2 with the fixed 8-way what would the discount be over the standard pricing?

Thanks!

Customer service doesn't get much better than that!

@RabidRabit: Thanks for asking the question; my guess is there were a number of us pondering that very thing.
