MAME Arcade Project

Hello yesterday i just started building an arcade im a noob so take it easy on me..I bought 3 MDF 8x4 and i made the design that i wanted.i made the base and today im gonna make the front back and top covers.What i do is in the morning when is warm i do the woodwork and at night im trying to figure out how to install mame on my old pc.I need some help tho bc i have no idea what to do.I'm trying to save money by not byuing a pcb and use my old computer.So i just i installed xp pro sp3 and now im trying to figure out how to install mame and how to make it so it can boot right on the arcade without going on the windows screen.any help would be really appriciated.Thank you

Check the WIKI on this site. There's tons of stuff about configuring windows, MAME, and various front ends you might want to use.

Do a search on shelling windows.

I've got it working on windows 7, but the process on xp will be different.

If the computer can run vista, use win 7 instead.

ok so i installed vista and mame32 works pretty good i download the emulator from mamedev my only problem for now is that i have to type ok with the keyboard to enter a game and i cant get rid of it any tips?btw shelling works pretty nice :applaud: thank you

You can also paddle the joy right then left to get through these screens as well.  If you're using older releases of MAME you can disable the screens entirely but not so much with the newer versions unless you put in a batch file to run the okay command on game start-up but that is a relative pain in the ass. 

Check out this thread as it is very helpful for setup of MAME and a good frontend, MALA.

that helped but like a said im a noob so im not really sure what to do after that so i found an easier solution and installed hyperspin which includes mame and all the other consoles it seems to be much faster and get better results with it u guys think its beter than mame32 it self or maximus?
