Slot machine? Software? DIY?
« on: December 10, 2011, 02:46:56 am »
After building a MAME cabinet and such, then moving on to a jukebox, then a wall mount Touchscreen game station (angry birds, Bejewel and more).. Has anyone on here ever messed with, or knows where to find Slot Machine software?  Is there anything out there, that one can use to build their own slotmachine, add a touchscreen and make it like the real ones at the Casinos?

Thanks

I found Fruit-emu.com to be pretty good for slot machine software. They have loads of slot machines.
To be honest I haven't played about with the software too much as have been busy with jukeboxes and arcade machines.

I don't see why you cannot use Friut-Emu and map the controls to your wall mount.

Some of the old gamblers are there (I like to play my old favorite Snappy Viper) like Andy Capp.  Some have nice overlays.

Let us know how you got on.  :applaud:

My jukebox is made from an old kiosk, (At some point I will get round to doing a build thread). I am planning on hanging a monitor above it which I can rotate and use this for Karaoke, Slot Machine Overlays and Music Video's.  I think some kind of 26" LED should do quite nicely. Talking of that I must get back to working on this other kiosk for a friend of mine. Although I would much prefer to find some kind of old radio for his. The Kiosk the 17" Touchscreen is coming from just looks plain Nasty at the moment. Thinking some vinyl overlay may help but it ain't ever gonna be pretty.

Why not do something like this:

I'm sure you can make one out of a Thinkpad 240X.  Those are 10" displays.

Thanks for the info guys.  Yes I checked out the fruit emu deal, and it's pretty cool, no doubt... But I don't see much that is close to todays hi-rez more "hands on" type you find at casinos.

I like the older slots, but would really like to add some newer type slots to take advantage of the 15" touchscreen I have.

I did download and try the MFME 10.1 software... not bad but I'm still trying to research on how to make it full screen, keys, etc...

Most modern IGT and WMS slots have been done by Masque.

Have not played with an interface to thier software but the games look very real and play on a touch screen well.

I'm running the Masque slot games in my touchscreen cabinet and although they're really fun one thing to note is that you can't reassign the keys.  I did add a real slot button and assign it to the space bar that's used to spin.

Sweet!

Thanks again Paladin.... So that software, you get all the slots in a single download?  $20 or so for the some thing you show, or is it $20 a pop per slot?

I sure wish keys could be mapped....

Is your PC a core 2 duo or ?

Thanks again!!

Great info.  Thanks for sharing!

I see collections on sale on the masque website for about 18 dollars at the moment. You can even see which games are included in the collections.

I've been playing around with Simple Touch FE a bit, but can't figure out how to link to a direct' MAME Rom.  I can get the exe to open, but
Not a direct game, as is often suggested by screenshots.

Any ideas?

I am fairly sure that the fix is to create a batch file that runs mame/game you want to play from command line.
It should be something like the following c:\mame\mame.exe mexico86.zip

Then point Simple FE at the batch file.

Hope this helps.

I don't have MAME installed on that cabinet, so I'm afraid I can't help.

Paladin, same question but for the IGT Slots.  Can SimpleTouch FE be somehow configured to go directly to a specific slot machine?

Drnick, thanks for the batch file idea.  I'll look into that idea.

Also, Paladin, I think you said something about not being able to map keys to the slots buttons?  I've loaded Wolf Run and found that there are keys that could be mapped to buttons for stuff like increase bet lines, increase bet, bet max, etc.  Just wanted to mention it if you weren't aware.

You don't need a batch file.... just add the " c:\mame\mame.exe mexico86.zip " type line to the Game Exacutable space in the SimpleTouchFE configuration setup.
Obviously make sure YOUR folder locations and file names are correct as the example given may not be the same as yours.

I run several of the older Touchmaster and Megatouch games on my machine this way.

Just need a cocktail waitress that shows up every two hours and some jerk blowing smoke in your face all night then you will have achieved that unique Vegas experience in your living room.

Thanks guys, but this isn't quite doing it for me.  By altering my mame executable by adding [space]dkong.zip, STFE attempts to open, but doesn't work.  I'll see a quick flicker of the mame loading screen that maybe show 6%, but then closes.

Any ideas?

Also, not exactly sure how to do a batch file.  I tried creating a notepad file, adding my mame executable line with dkong.zip suffix, then saving as dkong.bat and adding the path to the bat file in ST config.  Still no luck.

I can try to take a look at my setup again, but I won't be able to do much until later today.
It's not connected to my network, so it's harder to grab screenshots and whatnot directly from it right now.
And... it's been a long time since I have messed with it to be honest. :P

I'm assuming all your roms work fine if you open them regularly through mame?
Is STFE closing, or is it MAME that is closing?

AllJ Software has a turn-key slot machine option that integrates with hardware, very brandable and with lots of control options.

They've partnered with usbbuttons.com to provide wiring that can tie into pretty much any buttons.

here is where you can get the trial version of the program: http://www.alljsoftware.com

hope it helps.

A late reply, because he's trying to drum up business.

You've got just 3 reels and it seems that a license is about $400.  The customizable reels/images sounds neat, but not $400 neat.

http://www.alljsoftware.com/pricing.asp

AllJ Slots 2.2.278 Full Version
License: $499 $399 (USD)

Personally, I love the Masque slots.  They are top notch.
