ipac4 issue - p3 and p4 stopped working
« on: November 23, 2011, 01:19:39 pm »
I have an older ipac4 - ps/2 with the jumpers in the center.

I added 4 buttons to my machine as coin buttons and when I couldn't get the buttons to work with the coin door inputs (I tried doubling them, coin door (1) coin button (1) both set to 5, didn't work).

So, I moved the jumper from MAME to ALT, I reprogrammed ipac4 which kept giving me an error message after I hit program. Suddenly p3 and p4 stopped working.

I found this thread
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88198.0

somebody mentioned unplug the ipac from the machine. I did that and it worked again.

I hit program again, and all the coin buttons worked.

It's been about 4 days now since I reprogrammed and now p3 and p4 stopped working again. I unplugged and repeated the process, and nothing.

It's wired correctly, it's been wired correctly for 7 years and I double checked before I wrote this.

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution?

Send an email to Andy at Ultimarc.  Maybe the onboard chip which stores the ALT settings has died.
