About a year after building my first arcade cabinet (
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=113563) I started getting the itch to build a new one

There were several big parts in the construction I wasn't happy with, and as I built the first one for next to nothing I could spend a little more on a new one and not feel too bad about it.
Which leads me to the much more professional looking new version!

Quick details:
Vertical mounted 19" lcd (ViewSonic vp930)
Intel D525MW Atom D525 1.66GHz Mini-ITX Motherboard with 2GB ram (powerful enough to run the games that I need, and cheap!)
Kingston 16GB 2.5" SATA-II S100 SSD (really improves boot time)
Be Quiet SFX 300W MicroATX PSU (almost silent most of the time)
Altec Lansing BXR1220 Portable speakers (more than loud enough, and usb powered)
Arcade controls:
Goldleaf pushbuttons from Ultimarc
http://www.ultimarc.com/goldleaf.html (After the cheap microswitch buttons I had in the last one these are amazingly light!)
2 UltraStik 360s with red ball tops.
USB IPAC2 controlling all the buttons.
Coin mech from Gremlin
http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/products/comparablecoinmech.htmThe coin mech is definitely my fav bit. Got it set to 2 pence pieces so the jar full next to it won't go missing!
MDF from B&Q - Got the main parts cut to size using their free cutting service. Really glad I did that as it was spot on accurate.
I think the guy was a bit confused at my strange measurements though. I said I was building a cabinet...of sorts

Red t-moulding from somewhere on ebay. Really finishes it off nicely.
Plastic from
http://www.plasticonline.co.uk/ Got the same darkness of plexi as my last project, but due to it being a bit thinner it was a bit lighter. This meant I had to mask the other side off. Not too much of an issue, and it means the actual screen is a bit lighter!
Running Mala front end with a custom theme I made. Really simple black background, nice font and a screenshot of the game. That's all I need.
I've recently changed to using batch files for each game through mala as I could get better control over the ultramaps loaded per game.
Also it means I can use different versions of MAME and configs for each game, and expand to load other emulators in the same list if I wanted to.
I designed the marquee section to be A4 sized (290mm) so that I could print my own marquees. It's got 5mm clear plexi infront of it and I've got a Time Pilot design ready to go when I get bored of Bubble Bobble (probably never

)
Designed everything in sketchup which takes a bit of getting used to but is amazing for free.
Here's a quick shot of the design in Sketchup:

If anyone wants the sketchup file I can probably dig it out.
I think that's about it, if anyone has any questions I'd love to answer them. Especially if I can help anyone out who's building something similar.
