Fair deal for a broken Ms. Pac-man?
« on: October 28, 2011, 12:23:58 pm »
I am browsing Craigslist at the moment just to see what is available. There is a guy offering a Ms. Pac-man with a monitor that only shows a blue line when it is turned on. He wants $500 which I know is way too high. What do you guys think a fair price is for this? I was thinking somewhere around $100 for the cabinet and game board.

I would say $100-$200 if it's complete and depending on cabinet condition.

That seems to be a really popular cab, so dont bother if you cant get it for $100 or less

Condition and your plans are key in defining a fair price,
For an upright, if the art is in like new condition, and the monitor has no burn and is the only issue, 500 is a steal, blue line sounds like vertical collapse which is nothing a cap kit won't fix, but if the monitor is burned to hell and if the cab is beat to hell 500 is a rip off. If you are going to mame or multi it you could recoup some costs by selling off the fully working board? harness, ps, etc.

So it really depends on all of the variables.

We ended up not being able to make a deal. The guy said he would hold onto it for anything less than 300$. It's ok though... I have a few really good deals lined up. (A Tekken Tag for sale with 25 inch monitor fully working for $120 and possibly an upright Pole Position cabinet for 50$ if I decide to get a second cabinet.)

I wish I could find a Pole Position cabinet for $50. I've missed a couple that ended up in the landfill.

My first Ms. Pac-man, which was in average "location condition" was won on Ebay for something like $335.00. It was non-working. All I needed to do was take the filter PCB off and it worked like a charm. My second one was a beat to hell cabinet and major monitor burn-in. I got that via Craigslist for $150. But I got it working.

(I'm about to restore both before selling one).

I did go check out the Pole Position today, but I think I am going to pass for now on that one. I don't really feel like messing around with converting one of those into a 4 player MAME cab. I may see if I can work out some kind of trade with the same guy though. He had a Virtua Fighter for 100$ with game board, but broken monitor. I may see if I can trade him a monitor for that cabinet emptied out, plus an empty Gauntlet Legends control panel.
