Hi All, I have been following this thread patiently and I am now having to agree with Ed. We r getting rather side tracked in trying to disable this dongle!!! Most of us have complete working machines with dongles and we have been here waiting for over a year now to see Ed release his patches to allow us to unlock players n courses n all the goodies within the game and the pinnacle is to be able to play each other online.

Now we are a very helping community and all are willing to help u get ur non working machine running but please can we move these issues to another thread say the one STP started as we r all following that also.

That being said Ed are any of these patches complete for us to try and if so can u explain to us how we can get these and install them on our machines so we can finally enjoy playing each other online and playing and enjoying all the different players n courses?

Thx Spitfire

Hi Guys,

The main and only reason we are trying to bypass the dongle is so that we can use the more current main boards that are available these days. Most of which don't have LPT ports any longer.

I agree Spitfire.  I, like many others, have religiously been checking, reading this board.  A year ago I was so excited about this idea.  I still am excited but am having reservations now due to all the directions this hd been going the last 28 pages.
I couldn't even tell you what is going on right now....I just have been sitting back and waiting for the post that says, "game on".  I don't even know if a guy like me is still in the running with my bone stock tower and software.  I have zero mods, just a working game with a dongle.  I honestly thought I would be able to download something (whatever Ed was doing) and it would unlock the players, courses, and possibly get us online.  Maybe that is still going to happen, I hope it does, considering a lot of people, including Ed, have worked hard on this.

Sorry to clog the thread gentleman.  I agree this thread should stay clear for this project.  It's already sooooo long.  Not here to offend anyone or piss them off.  Just sharing some thoughts and hopefully to see the "game on" message.
Thank you again to everyone dedicated in making this work and making all the thread read worth it!

Hi Fg, totally agree mate.

Now that being said Ed it seems that u have the goodies we r all waiting on. When can we all get the files needed to turn our stock standard team challenge machines playing online against each other or at bare minimum unlocking all the players, courses etc to enjoy at home.

You say in this thread u have done all this so r u any closer to sharing with us all or can we offer our help to test.
Thx Spitfire

Hmmm...I'm not really going to offer comment on that other than thanks for your hard work Ed.  If you don't mind working on the dongle and online play that would be great.  Actually, is online play still in the works?  You can PM me so that we don't derail this thread any longer.  For anyone else having issues or wanting to comment on other PGA possibilities please post them in my PGA Owners Thread here

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,129168.0.html

I have been working with a brilliant handful of members in this forum extensively on helping us achieve unlocking players and courses, dongles, etc.  It seems that it is best that we post in the PGA Owners thread for anything that is not a direct follow up of Ed's posts and allow him to have his space he needs and concentrate on his project.  Ed's been working on this for quite a while but I assure you, he is not the only one.  We will get this figured out one way or another.  I think we may be closer than anyone is realizing!  :applaud:

course's are done the same way

if u ppl want i will post the exact extision  ie .txt/.dat/.bat/.mp3 etc

Hey Ed...you are welcome my man.  I am really motivated to help in any way I can here.

As a last request, if you have a minute to explain or give a brief step by step tutorial on how to add one golfer and one course I think that would be VERY MUCH appreciated!  You can even post it in my PGA thread if it's easier or PM it to me and I can post it.  I would love to try to do this today.  Thanks Ed.

Great.  It looks like the players in my directory all have the .plyr extension but they aren't playable.  I will await your instructions and let you get back to dongle and online without distractions.  This will hold us over for sure.  Thanks!

hi
this is the # max allowed
[Players]
Player00=Adam Scott
Player01=Adriana Dulce
Player02=Alastair McFadden
Player03=Aphrodite Papadapolus
Player04=Arnold Palmer
Player05=Ben Hogan
Player06=Bev Bouchier
Player07=Billy Hightower
Player08=Bunjiro Tanaka
Player09=Caesar Rosado
Player10=Charles Howell III
Player11=Colin Montgomerie
Player12=Dion Douglas
Player13=Gary Player
Player14=Hunter Elmore
Player15=Jack Nicklaus
Player16=Jeb McGraw
Player17=Jesper Parnevik
Player18=Jim Furyk
Player19=John Daly
Player20=Johnny The Hustler
Player21=Justin Leonard
Player22=Justin Rose
Player23=Justin Timberlake
Player24=Kendra Lovette
Player25=Natalie Gulbis
Player26=Notah Begay III
Player27=Raquel Rogers
Player28=Reginald Weathers
Player29=Retief Goosen

Player37=Vijay Singh
Player38=Dan Reid
Player39=Shawn Powers
Player40=Vinnie Sioti
Player41=Kazuo Saito
Player42=Alexa Everett
MaxNumber=42

so u run that # up to what u want,and add ie
player43=stpcore
player44=ed
player45=dirt
etc etc
then u spec the EXACT #
next the file's are saved by this extenison >.plr< olny anark understands it
so then u either add anark to your window's file viewer or rename them so windows picture file viewer will understand it,then u rename back to the way anark want's it
i am clear once up-dated to sp3
we can ditch anark anyway's

your course's are listed as a >.pos< file
again anark
to make them usable u must rename to something window's wordpad or viewer will understand

stpcore that is the basic of it

anark never had anything to do with the sound >thk-god<
so u add basic .wav/.mp3 file's right in

We were able to find a quick hack for substituting players today. Played as Tiger, Arnold Palmer, etc and it was encouraging!  Can't find a way to add extra players to the player selection screen without removing one in the process but any golfer is currently playable with our simple workaround!  I wrote a tutorial in the PGA Owners thread if you care to take a look.

hi
stpcore
 i did peek into your thread today
nice job on the walk through

if u read the lower part of my last post
i think u will find the info u ppl require

now i did remove the cmd's listed and do not get a dongle biatch
i do think i have to remove monitorstall.exe
a byte more work but i think we can kiss the dongle bye bye
most of the info for the dongle sit's in tour_golf_2006\shell
but it is messey in there
i will put up an exact .zip of which file's and where the are located to remove
and or u can just remane them to like 1gvrdonglemonitor.exe
the main proggie will not even see it
this way ppl will not have any fear of mucking up there game's

again perfect job on your thread

I understand that but there is not a way to have those added players show on the Choose Golfer screen before choosing your course. In addition there is not a way to construct a player (body type, face, etc.) and display it either. So increasing the amount of players in the player.ini file doesn't help in displaying them properly with attributes or having them as selectable in the Choose Golfer screen as it seems only a limited number of folders can be displayed as is.

weird! where you just talking with a random someone in technical support or customer service?? perhaps we could do some digging and find the name of a higher up. I've encountered many --cream-filled twinkie-- people who work FE, (front end). Get a higher up name...ask the FE to be connected to them...no problems.

you should have heard my 45 minute argument with the FE over at money controls.  ::) got a name, bypassed the FE, got what i needed immediately.

 Next time you talk with eng can you find what program readers they used as would like to edit menu to add additional players and courses.  Used keyboard trick today on all access but most file extensions needed additional reader to modify.

Thanks

Hi

The good news is that so far with your help I've been able to successfully install Championship 2 with my dongle and all the drivers! :)

The problem now is when the game loads I have a few errors and I can't get past the enter coin screen.

Here are the errors as I navigate through the game screens:

Internet Explorer script error:
Line 872
Char 3
Error The system cannot find the file specified

The files appear to be in the C: drive.

The only installation error I received was:
gacutil.exe has failed to start because MSVCR70.dll was not found.

Please could you suggest how to solve this issue? I'm so close to the machine working now!

Cheers
Simon

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

Hi Ed

I've copied MSVCR70.dll to the correct folders but I still have the script errors as posted above.

Do you know what could be causing them?

UPDATE
After solving the errors I now receive a no dongle screen.

Cheers
Simon

Hi Ed...just curious if you are still keen on starting the tournament server?  Wanted to ask this before you ask Saint to close this thread.  I'm not worried about the dongle any longer.

i expect all full realse to me of there source code next week >gobalvr<
vip ftp. which of course i am not allowed to hand out
but rather can and will modifiy.
i did have to turn over work to-date
which they went holy crap to
as most never fiquried out these thing's in the short time that i did >little bost there<,
and that to me is fair game,as i expect them to up-load it to there server
once APPROVED..
so yes all is well
and plan's are moving foward

What does that mean "source code"?  How will that help you?  So I'm getting the impression that GVR isn't really caring much about what happens with these games since they aren't selling dongles and they are allowing you to move forward after collaborating with them?  Is that a safe assumption?  I don't want to speculate and want to make certain we are all on the same page.  Thanks Ed.

the source code can be easily modified and recompiled into a working program.

without source code, to change something in a program would require decompiling it with a program (which you end up with a bloated buggy estimation of the original software's code.) if you where compile the code again it may not even work.

with source code, everything is as it should be because it's what the original program was made with.

Seems like some time very soon.
