I'm offically out of room! my games stories
« on: September 01, 2011, 02:41:39 pm »
Well it took me all of 4 years to collect the games that were on my list.

I am officially out of room, and have everything I want. (so far........) ::)
I'll post some pic's when I have a chance, but here is my list of games in no particular order.

#1 My Mame Rig
(Mike's Arcade Machine Emulator) building this cab was the gateway drug that started me collecting. This was my first game, and will never ever leave my basement. It still gets the most play bar non of any other game in the basement.
Link to my build is here

#2 Mrs Pac-man
Built by Bret (dptwiz) here on the klov boards and stenciled by (jpopson)
Inside this beauty I have a 96 in 1 pac kit running on a original board and an arcadeshop multiboard, most of the time I leave the AS board plugged in, as I like multi use units.

#3 Original Donkey Kong
Big thanks to Michael aka ZUD for bringing this back guy with him from his trip to Minnesota. Saved me a trip up to Madison WI. This guy is in great shape 8 or 9 out of 10 with only a small scratch on the monitor bezel, The beautiful no burn monitor has been re-capped and I installed a AS High score save kit and DKII, besides my Mame cab this has been in my collection the longest.

#4 NBA of NBC Showtime / NFL Blitz Sportstation
Bought this non working according to the owner, when I was picking it up he showed me what was wrong, it fired up with a beautiful image on the med res monitor, hard drive boots, game selection screen is up and he says see, you can't start a game, (The COIN buttons were stuck by pop or some other unknown sticky fluid) I said, lets load her up.
When I was teasing my son's recently about selling it they both said NO!!!!!! we will buy it from you, post about that here
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=179696
so needless to say I'll keep it till they are tired of it. This is my second Sportstation and this one is Great shape as well, 8 or 9 out 10 condition.

#5 Defender
This was a cab I bought from Darth Vadar (Danny in Wi) and delivered by Flynn54321, I had seen and read retroactives thread on BYOAC about his Multiwilliams and that was my inspiration for mine. I still need to finish my multi conrol panel but its playable as a dedicated Defender as it stands now, so when I get time I'll finish it.
This was sanded to wood and re stenciled.

#6 Strike and Spares Bowling by Gotlieb
This is absolutely one of the best drinking game EVER!
Very easy to approach by non-gamers and simple, who dosen't love bowling. Its been in my collection almost 3 years now, I never play by myself but its a great party game, so I keep it around as most of our guests love it.
Bought it cheap and fixed it up.
Link to my some of my cosmetic repairs are here

#7 LOTR pin is HUO by Stern
She is perfect 10 out of 10
great game with deep rules and long ball times, shaker add alot to the game

#8 Iron Man pin by Stern
9 1/2 out of 10 condition
fast and brutal fun, with short ball times, its one of those games where you the start button again and again for just one more game. Shaker motor is a must for this game!

#9 Warlords cocktail
link to pic's are here
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=200742
Just finished the restoration it has new cpo's, pots, monitor, glass and some powder coating, makes this look brand spanking new.

#10 Atari Space Duel,
I was searching for one of these recently and bought 2, the one I am keeping will become my multivector, don't worry I'll keep it an easy switch back and forth, it was bought from a gentleman who produced a sales reciept from March of 1984, its been HUO for the last 27 years, it looks brand new, its the best original condition SD I have ever seen.

#11 Atari Star Wars Upright
Picking the last piece to my gameroom tomorrow night, I have a ESB kit ordered and can't wait to install it.

Pic's to follow......

Nice.

If you haven't seriously played ESB, I suggest doing so before buying that kit.

I bought it already, I have 2 boys, 12 and 9, needless to say a color vector with their fav movie series is a no lose situation!
I recapped the 6100 monitor and turned it on, snap snap blew both fuses 600 and 700 its now in the hands of a professional and when I get it back This game will make the move to the basement.

Nice collection. I am getting close to that point of having everything I want as well, and it is a very strange feeling. That of course is given my current space limitations. If space was no object, there are probably a couple hundred more I would like to have. I really want a couple nice DMD pins, but that will probably be a while down the road. I have a Time Crisis 3 filling the space of those until I can make it happen. Other than that, the only arcade game still on my list is Area 51/ Max Force.

My first was also a MAME cab. I am actually trying to give away the cab right now - minus the MAME stuff. I am going to build a cab that resembles the newer bowling games, and use a TV mounted to the wall. No more fighting resolutions for me. :)

Enjoy the games. Sounds like the work is almost done. BTW, someone already mentioned Neo Geo. If you find the space, it would be a good add given the ages of your kids. I know they can all be played on the MAME cab, but it is a cool cab to have. I have thought about selling it a number of times, but it always manages to stick around. I now have a jamma adapter for it so I can swap in the jamma boards. I have a Mr Driller 2 board waiting to go in for a while. I have owned it for months, but never played it. lol

Neo Geo has some great games no doubt. I never really spent any coin or time on those BITD though.
When I made my mame cab I went with a 7 button layout so I have those Neo Geo games and controls covered.
The Metal slug series get a ton of play from my boys.

Awesome collection for sure.  I'm particularly jealous of the Warlords refurb it being on my top ten list and all...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Like gatordad, I didn't play Neo Geo games BITD, but this past Halloween my daughter's boyfriend was telling me about the Neo Geo games he would play when he went to Mexico with his family. I fired a bunch up and they were a lot of fun, especially the King of Fighters series. I'm strongly considering building a Neo Geo bartop.

Here is a pic from my warlords restoration thread.

This new generation of teens sure knows how to have fun!

My Star Wars upright is almost done
I have touched up all the scuffs, rebuilt the yoke to full functionality, cleaned it inside and out, installed new levelers and mounting plates, Installed the ESB kit, New freshenup paint on the back of cab, glued and touched up a small chip on the bottom rear, new marquee overlay (as soon as it arrives)
I did a full rebuild of the monitor with a full cap kit, plus additional parts kit and lv2000 upgrade, After I was done I still needed to have it checked out by someone with more vector experience, it appears that when I was replacing the chassis transistors I swapped the location when reinstalling them (DUH) but anyway it works again and should be good for some years to come.

Pic's when it travels to the gameroom.
