NovaMatrix LINX LED Marquee Light
« on: July 19, 2011, 03:34:15 am »
I got the NovaMatrix marquee light from Groovy Game Gear and have it installed in my cab.

Now, my cab is small (about 3/4 the size of a Galaga machine) and the marquee is only about 17x6 inches.  For my size cab, I think the marquee is a bit bright.  I could remove an LED or two, but I already have them installed, and I like the coverage.  I'm powering the light with a wall wart that can be switched from 3v to 12v.  I switched the voltage to 9v and I think the marquee looks great.

Does anyone know if operating the NovaMatrix on 9v instead of 12v will shorten the life of the LEDs?  I know some electronic devices respond adversely when operated at power levels below what they were designed for.

Thanks.

Running at 9V will actually increase the life of the LEDs as it is dissipating less power.
