USB Jack/Flush Mount
« on: June 15, 2011, 01:20:45 am »
Hey Guys,

More of a lurker than a poster for the past 10 years. Looking for some help from the community.

I am looking for this product: http://www.techtronics.com.au/p/109412/CONNECTORS_PCB/Neutrik/P0837.asp

Something I can use to mount an external port to my two player control panel as well as an external port to my barcade. The website in question is Australia I believe, as I am in Canada I am hoping to order the same or similar idea from something more local, whether instore or online from this continent.

Anyone got any leads where I might be able to find? I have tried some surplus stores to no avail.

Thanks again.

Mouser seems to have some (check the datasheet link for specs).  If you follow the similar link they different finishes (nickel/black) and A/B or B/A:

Hey man, head to www.mouser.com, they have a warehouse in Vancouver BC. Alternatively your local Long and McQuade or Tom Lee music can get you one. Probably don't have them in stock... but they will get you one.

If you can solder, you can make one...

I use these for external usb ports on the sides of my cab's cp:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=lcom+WPUSBAX-05M&x=0&y=0

The company is L-Com but you can order them through Amazon. They're one composite piece which includes the usb cable on the inside which is nice.

Also, if you are not looking for the specific mount you first linked, but just a general mountable USB plug, there is another alternative.  It seems every time I buy a motherboard I end up with a couple back panel slot mounts like this (I've probably got a half dozen of the 2-port variety in a box somewhere):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200523&cm_re=usb_slot-_-12-200-523-_-Product
If you have anything like that you can just unbolt the metal slot plate and remount the plugs to whatever you need.

I use these on a  bracket.   Cut the tabs off the bracket and screw it in anywhere you want a couple of flush mount USB ports. Cable plugs right into your MB USB header.

Lizardlick.com has some of these same connecters
I need a house to put stuff in, instead of an apartment with stacks of boxes.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have been looking. I have 2-3 stores to check locally and if not I will try to purchase from a website in the states. I will provide the information when I have it. I know a few people are interested in finding out where I located this.

Heres an update. I found the company and product I want to purchase. I am having a tough time finding a company that is willing to ship to Canada at a reasonable rate.

Switchcraft Panel Mount Connector (USB A to B)
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EHUSBABB/

That website I listed wants $32 just to ship it to my house near Toronto, Ontario. Completely unrealistic lol.

I will keep on the hunt. Thanks for the help guys  :)

Thank you so much! I found a local distributer in Toronto and have already placed the online order.

Thanks again!  :) :D ;D
