AimTrak Vs MAME
« on: May 22, 2011, 09:34:00 pm »
Hey all,

Well I've been battling with getting my AimTrak to work and I'm slowly getting ahead.  The gun calibrates and tests just fine in windows but when I get to Operation Wolf it's not so good.  My trigger seems to be both buttons as all my rockets launch first then goes to bullets.  Then when I hit the alt button the cursor flies to the lower left and slowly crawls up the side.  So I have a few questions.

My lightgun and button settings are greyed out but editable.  Is this bad?
Does editing Input (general) override Input (this game) or visa versa?
My button 1 and button 2 turn out to be the same in mame when I assign the two buttons.  Both are Gun 4B0 but should they be different?
I only have one gun hooked up as Device 1 but it is Gun 4 in mame.  does this matter?

Here is a section of my mame.ini, does this look right?

I don't have aim-traks, but you shouldn't have analogue dec and inc mapped in addition to having the axis mapped.
Both those should be unassigned.

The trigger and grenade button shouldn't both appear as B0.
Are you pointing the gun at the screen when you set them up in MAME?

Have you followed the instructions?  http://www.ultimarc.com/AimTrak%20Setup%20Guide.pdf

I had the same problem with both my buttons being assigned as B0 in mame for some reason. I had to go into the .ini file or the config file for the game and mess with the button assignments. But in the fil when i tried to assign Player button 1 and typed in "B0", when i loaded up mame and pressed tab to get into the controls page it did not come up as B0. What im trying to say here in a confusing way is that , for me, in that config file "0" did not equal "0" in the mame controls tab when i opened the game. So play with the numbers a bit. I still CAN"T manually map the second button on my gun tho. Mame does'nt recognize it

Are your problems similar to those I had posted in this thread?

My problems were fixed when I emailed Andy from Ultimarc and he sent me firmware 19 for the Aimtrak. What firmware do you have?

i'm pretty sure my firmware is at version 17 after clicking update. I was hesitant to contact andy as i figured mame configurations stuff is out of his wheelhouse. The button works in HOD3 for PC so i didnt think it was the guns fault. Im gonna have to give him a pm i guess
