You might have a look through the hall of fame projects

Most of them have pics of the CP underbellies.

It can definitely be a chore to keep the wiring neat, esp if you go with RGB led lit buttons and such!

Heres's mine using Cat5 cable (what you refer to as RJ-45 which is the actual connector itself).  I color coded the wiring using the sheath to match the joystick colors.  So blue would be for the blue controls, yellow for the yellow controls, etc.  That makes finding stuff easier.

Here's a simple one that I wired up for a buddy of mine last year.  We later squeezed in an ipac 2.

Here you go.  22 ga solid under each panel, 22 gauge stranded going to the pinball buttons, stranded cat 5 connecting each side to the i-pac 2.  USB hub for my U360 and my swappables.

Here ya go... picture isn't the greatest, but then again, neither is the wiring...

Most of the wire here is from an UltiMarc wiring kit, thus all the multiple colors... if my memory serves there's also some Home Depot bell wire in there.  And yes, I did keep the hacked mouse board attached to the bottom of a mouse, and then just screwed it onto the bottom of the CP.  Sue me...

Since these pictures were taken, I added a brighter USB LED lamp to better illuminate the trackball.  And since somebody is bound to ask, I also included a pic of the lid closed, in "firing position"...

Here's my unfinished control panel. All of the buttons have holes drilled in them and LEDs glued in. I'll have to figure out a neat way to wire those in.
