Day 1 of construction.
cabinet size basically the same as the widebody setup in the Dr who thread.
Using Ultra thin LED LCD Screen's, these things are really compact. less than a 1" thick total. Wanted to lay the screen down inside the cabinet rather than on top of the rails to get the correct effect.
Have routed a 1/2" slot to take the screen so that I could still use a std widebody lockbar. The back of the cabinet will have a drop down door so you can slide the screen out if required. PC will mount to a rail so can be removed or worked on from the back and allow you to leave the screen in place.
Current plan is to install full working coin mechs and cashbox as per a std setup. with hope when you open the coor door and look inside it will look just like a normal pinball.
2nd weekend spending sometime on this cab. not a lot new as I have been bouncing between projects (BBB,mini cab, home theater, honey doo's)
leg bolt holes drilled and brackets mounted
back door and computer tray made and mounted
rear cooling fans, lock and usb port mounted (nice usb port, also has speaker output so you can run your sound out to your home stereo if you wanted for even more punch!!)
saturday night built the pc and installed windows 7 and vp etc, working nice with some incredible frame rates.
almost time to move onto the backbox....
todays 4 hours accomplishments....
shooter mounted
start button mounted
coin door mounted
coin box and frame installed
backbox monitors mounted all inside the head for easier removal (for the 32" i modified part of the std base mount it came with), worked out nice and easy with the top routed into the backbox.
19" DMD mounted with some slotted wood brackets
that should do it for today i think
quick hour on the cabinet tonight before dinner
kicker 4" components mounted in speaker panel backboard
fosgate sub mounted in cab bottom
coin door interlock switch bracket mounted.
time to take backbox apart, cut hole for 220mm fan, then onto filling/sanding and some purple primer
ok, build has finally moved inside for final assembly and then tweaking.
sub fitted
installed backbox screens
mesh screens installed for cabinet & backbox holes plus on the underside of the cab to protect the sub.
Decal application has begun, after 24-48 hours (once the soapy water has evaporated), I will trim the backbox decals.
wiring is now officially complete!!!
label in place
was fun running the rom for BBB on the machine, would be nice to have the table to load and play now
whats remaining...
1.cut glass for back glass and back paint
2.small notch on rear draw to clear inside of legs
3.install games and configure (the next painful step)lol
4.clean those nasty fingerprints off the glass..
