For me, it's Contra. I'm sure some will disagree, but that game is super hard, and after you continue a few times, it's eventually like, "No. Screw you. I don't even want your money anymore." And won't let you continue!!

One aspect of Gauntlet always bothered me. Disturbed me from the get go back in the eighties. It's that damned death guy. If he gets you in a corner, he is literally stealing your money. A skeletal hand might as well extend from the coin door directly into your pocket.

Street Fighter II CE, sometimes it frustrates me, but in the end I always come back to it.

+1, although I don't cheat ... which makes it even worse ...

It is a game that I would actually sell a game to make room for.

Bagman

30 years ago I thought this was the best game, it was one of the first games I played on MAME and I was totally disappointed.

Every once in a while I'll play it with the hopes of seeing what I saw in 30 years ago.

Dartful, I don't mean ANY disrespect by this, but that is probably the saddest thing I've ever read on this board. It's like you're searching for your youth in that game, and are unable to find it. Perhaps it resides in a different game? Maybe even a new one?

The Donkey Kongs and Burgertime. Getting stuck while trying to un-mount a ladder/vine drives me absolutely mental.

Those "ghosts" games are pretty demoralizing as well. Perhaps some of their charm(?). I mean, first hit, you're in your underwear. Not cool. Second hit - skeleton. Less cool. Though I like the way the skeleton's mouth goes open a little bit when it finally rests in its pathetic little pile.

You joined this board 2 weeks ago.

Give it another 2 weeks you'll see much sadder.

The saddest/funniest thing I see on this board is when disrespectful members create a new account in hopes of getting respect.

Robotron....it's the only game that makes me punch my cabinet and keeps me coming back to punch it some more.

That's too funny. I punched the indestructable replacement joysticks that our local arcade owner put in the Robotron machine. They were stiff, tough, black balled and stiff (did I mention stiff). Your forearms took a physical beating from
trying to manhandle these stupid things. Ended up with a golfball on my knuckle and later on ended up ripping the whole control panel out of its socket, because Spaz (that was what we called him) was laughing at the whole thing.
Got banned from the arcade temporarily, end up allowed back in only not allowed to play Robotron. Our arcade owner was nice but evil. I ended up buying the machine I broke.

I don't punch anymore. It hurts and I love my cab too much. I do swear, smirk, laugh out load, complain and call them (the robotrons) cheaters from time to time.

Ghost N Goblins
Ghost N Ghouls
Defender

These 3 used to steal my quarters, so I stayed away from them even though I love, fear and still aspire to one day roll defender.

This plan is so perfect, it's retarded. -- Peter Family Guy

Mega Man 1

I remember me and my friend really got into the series with 3, we were happy as ---fudgesicle--- when we found a copy of the first game.  Man that game was hard.... and never got very far in the game (this was before passwords). Screw you gutsman stage!

The only thing more frustrating than the game itself was the American boxart:

Wow.

I feel that single word sums up my feelings about that art. Just.. wow. That's terrible. High resolution graphics, compared to what?? Atari? I guess so. That face. Mega man is a robot, that is just some ug dude. It's like art drawn of a bad (BAD) movie advert. Why is his head/helmet all lopsided?!?!

Rampart

that game triggers something mentally with me and its not good, rebuilding my wall has me foaming at the mouth, if I only had one more second or the right shaped piece when I needed it I would rule that game

Every single Cave game, but especially Mushihimesama Futari. It's a fantastic game alright, but again and again it kicks ---my bottom---. Hard.
