JROK Multi Williams Boards
« on: April 12, 2011, 03:42:27 am »
Question is... are these still available from anywhere? I checked out JROKS website and I cannot find anywhere to order. Last updates seem to be nearly two years ago. No more being made?

Even if I can get hold of one I do not know much about these boards. Do I just need a normal arcade PSU with 5V output to power it? Standard JAMMA harness? The website notes do state that there is a VGA jumper on the board to enable use of VGA monitors. This mean I can use a standard VGA PC monitor? Basically I have no arcade cabinet parts at all to plug the board into. I just wanted to try something a little different from Mame.

Gonna be tough. JROK is active on KLOV, you could send him a PM as see what he has to say... You could also try jammaparts.net, the used to have a 19-in-1 Williams board (JAMMA) for around $200..

Funny that I have been asked this question a few times in the past few weeks by folks from the other side of the pond.

Last I heard, jrok was working on his multi-QBert and would entertain doing another run of the MW only after that was complete. I don't know if I would expect anything before fall. There are folks who have boards sitting around (even I bought an extra ... which I have already used), so a WTB post here and on KLOV may turn one up.

I have two of the boards in my gameroom and have them both wired JAMMA with normal arcade switching PS.

As far as VGA goes, I believe that you will need a breakout cable, but should work OK.

This KLOV thread may be of interest:

EDIT: There is a big honking thread on KLOV that I can't seem to find right now that contains most of the information that you'll need, except how to get your hands on one.

James might make another run of his board when he gets some time and if there is enough interest.

(I wouldn't bother with that 19-in-1 though).

OK thanks guys. Looks like I may just stick with Mame for now and then possibly change to this board later on when it becomes available again. I have all the parts sitting around to do Mame so it's a no cost option.

PM JROK on KLOV to get on the list and in the queue.  I was on the list for months waiting for a run to get mine.  If you don't, you might miss the next run or he might run out.

NecroBump.

Adding for completeness: I have now done this on my jrok MW cab and it works fine. RGB go to VGA pins 1,2,3. Gnd  to pin 6. Sync to pin 13. Jumper the pins for VGA output on jrok board. Worked like a charm.

I did not have a problem with the sync, but I guess that if you do, you can tie the VGA syncs (pins 13 and 14) directly to the Horizontal and Vertical sync pins on jrok.

Reason 857 why CheffoJeffo is cooler than you.

You can't even be bothered to post your project pictures at BYOAC for long term documentation, he necro bumps a post from 4 years ago adding completeness for posterity...

Necro-bump or not, jrok seems to work off a waiting list based on posts and private messages on klov. If you want one, then get in line.

You won't be disappointed, I have all his multiboards.

I don't think there is a list right now. I ordered one a few weeks ago, and he had them in stock. I think it was only a couple of days for him to ship it.

Yeah, you can upgrade them using a thumb drive.

That's PrettyFuckingCool! So you could use some of the old hacked ROMs? Nifty.
