Is R3play 2 happening this year?
« on: April 08, 2011, 04:33:08 pm »
Basically I cannot find any information on this. There was a webpage stating that R3play 2 was happening but dates were yet to be confirmed... but I cannot find that page any more. Nor can I find anything regarding R3play 2. Turnarcades were there last year so as a vendor I hope he might have some info. We're into April now and I would have thought an event like that would need to have it's venue booked by now. Be a shame if it's not gonna happen as last years event was a scorcher.

I am sure they will closer to the time.  They will have to sort out that queuing system.

If Turnarcades does have a stand - I might be tempted to order his Mini Slim this year.......

Yes it's definitely on, with the confirmed dates to be released any day now. Primary organiser Dave Moore and primary sponsor of last year's show Console Passion are doing some promoting at Gadget Show Live next week (we were invited to take part but couldn't due to personal commitments), so will likely be making announcements following that. The organising should not be as difficult this year as more people are offering to exhibit knowing it's definitely a popular show now, and I was going to be asking for BYOAC members to contribute but have been waiting for official word to do so first.

We for sure will be there and hope to be bringing a larger selection of demo machines to exhibit this year, and may also be importing some emulation handhelds for resale at the show.

Well I'm definitely taking three projects to exhibit this time.... possibly four. So I would need a table myself to put those on. I have no idea who to contact regarding this so I will keep my eyes peeled for forthcoming news. Last year I took one project as a last minute exhibitor, but I don't wanna leave it that late to get booked in this time around.

Would be nice to get section for Mame and other emulation to be together. Dunno if the emulation scene is something they are too comforable with though. However, the fact the show is a goer is enough for me right now. I is happy panda now.  :applaud:

Hopefully near that tombola, we made a killing in 50P Xbox 360 games at that stand.   :applaud:

Hmmmm, it might be worth me asking Dave about creating a full section, rather than just random exhibits, dedicated to 'home builds' that incorporates emulation. There were a few raised eyebrows amongst cynical punters but everyone soon learned that emulation is merely a sideline to the art of project cabinet building, which is after all what all members here already knew. The arcade cabinet is the main focus of this hobby and what goes in it doesn't have to be emulators. Leedsfan's MiniDK cabinet drew interest last year for it's attention to detail, and we're working on PS2-based racing and PS1-based light gun cabinets to bring this year, as well as a Street Fighter 4 machine.

Dave said it would have been nice to have seen this side of things and arcades in general better represented seeing how popular they were, so hopefully this year we can all help with that.
