Its ok to have more than one interest you know.

Such as.... Pinball, classic arcade games, bacon, flying general aviation airplanes, reading about quantum physics, drinking & brewing beers, RC cars, guns & going to strip clubs.

Thats what I do for fun, if just one ruled my life that would suck & burn me out for sure.

You forgot the most important one in your list of examples; Going outside and kicking a can.

I'm in the same boat. Video games just bore me now. My MAME cabinet is sitting unplugged because it never gets played. I toyed with the idea of selling it but changed my mind. My PS3 is basically just used to play Blu-rays.

Right now my passion is raising my three year old son. When he gets older perhaps he will reawaken my gaming passion and we can both pull up a stool to the cabinet and enjoy some classic gaming.

I didn't read the whole thread (I find anything longer than two pages difficult to get through  ) but this caught my eye.  I played this game for ages and then had fun modding it for even longer.  I think my data folder ended up at over 20GB or something.  Vanilla, this game looks pretty dated but well modded it is still a pretty awesome game IMO as well.

For me anyway, the games are kind of secondary. They're fun, but most times, I don't even play a full credit's worth of lives. But I enjoy the hell out of building on my cab, coming up with new ideas, surfing other people's projects to see what kind of creative things people are doing, and scrounging through junk shops and garage sales for parts.

Yeah, that's exactly it. Building your machine is a lot more fun for me than playing it (although I still play a lot more than the people in this thread that complain about their lack of desire to play). Actually, the desire to play games comes and goes; until about 4 years ago, I only played from time to time, then I discovered arcade emulation, Giga Wing and DoDonpachi and finally all the other Cave and STG games. Since then, I have played a couple of credits every couple of days.
