Cocktail cab 32" tv advice

Anyone made a cocktail cab using a TV screen? Heat a problem and how do you think the screen would last being orientated on it's back? 28" widescreen for example would that look ok as split screen for P1 & P2?

Are your plan to leave it as is, or shall you remove the plastic housing and have it "naked" inside the cabinet?
The second alternative gives you more options of where to place the chassies board, which is the biggest heat generator.

My personal opinion is to always avoid widescreen CRT's when it comes to arcade games, since none of the original games used that format.

I'm just seeing if it's a sensible option really. I'd probably leave it housed as is. Only thought that with it being widescreen it would equal out better for split screen view. I could be wrong in thinking that however

If you are setting it up as a dedicated slip-screen cocktail cab, I guess it might work. I'd make sure I played around with games in slit-screen first, to make sure you like the way it looks. I haven't used split-screen, except to check it out. Maybe there's a forum member out there with this type of setup?

However, if this is your only cocktail cabinet, I'd go with an old 4:3 CRT; it just works better for almost every game (except maybe games  set for split-screen).

yeah I was sort of hoping someone may have gone that route with a widescreen.

I have an upright cab but I think you're probably right.
