I am trying to be polite about this and leave it alone, as this thread is about helping a newbie out, however, I want to clarify a few things:
In regards to the original issue:
We are going to swap out the joysticks for Eurosticks, which will solve the problem, because the problem is that the joysticks ordered have .25 microswitch tabs, not .187. The adapter has .187 connections. We must be getting a different set up then the one Randy is talking about modifying as we have not had any issues with .110 connectors. However I'm sure the people who use Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons would be interested in that, in fact I have a request, so if you have any let me know how much you want for them Randy.
In regards to the ensuing discussion:
1) It is not a product announcement but as stated by the originator it's also not a complaint, it was a question, and that question was
"Did I fail to order them w/the right microswitch or am I going to have to rewire half of this?"
The simple answer was there are different size connectors, if the connectors on the joystick and the adapter do not match, then you might have to rewire, get new micros, or switch joysticks. The response I questioned really doesn't address this.
2) The adapter we sell DOES NOT have .110 fittings, which contrary to the assertion made about "cheap Chinese" controls is also the standard fitting on most Japanese high end buttons. It is true that the knock off Chinese buttons also have these fittings, but that is irrelevant to this thread. What makes it even more irrelevant is that this adapter has .187 fittings, which are almost universal for most controls except on this particular joystick.
3) The "alternative" that is "offered" is not available, and unless it has .25 fittings standard, which would be quite silly as most controls accept the .187, it's not an "alternative" that would solve this problem. So while I am 100% behind people offering solutions to issues, something I do even if I have to direct my customers to competitors sites, there really isn't a solution to this problem being offered, just a notification that something new is coming to GGG.
4) Finally, I do label products sold by us as our products, because we take ownership and responsibility to support the things we sell. It's just good business. We don't play the game of brand naming everything we sell unless it's truly ours, we just call them what they are, sell what's good, and support our customers.
I guess once I look back at this thread it started out as a simple question, and then was made into a product announcement, or at least Randy used it as one for his future product. My standards of etiquette are just a bit different. While I may still have my east coast direct approach, I don't think it's appropriate to announce a new product after explaining incorrectly to someone why a competitors product is not working. Personally my approach would be simple, and my history on the forums would support this. I would be to leave it alone, make a neutral post, link to third party information, or shoot the seller(even if a competitor) a message saying "Hey make sure you check this post out, someone has a question" In my opinion, that would have been the polite approach...
