I-PAC 2 and media controls
« on: December 13, 2010, 08:02:05 pm »
I have built a couple of racing rig computer desks and thought it would be fantastic to add in arcade buttons for use in game.  The plan is to make something that works (with reprogramming if needed) on both ps3 and windows.  The USB IPAC 2 seemed the best bet.  So far everything has exceeded expectations.  The software is great and I have had no issues with any of the hardware from Ultimarc.

My question is this....   When in windows mode, it would be nice to have some of the buttons setup as global media keys so that I can pause/skip and change the volume of the music without messing with the master volume.  I have my "real' keyboard setup this way.  The media keys work great.  I can't seem to clone the media keys.  If I do, it shows up as "unknown 176" or something similar; but can't seem to send out the signal.  Right now I am using macros I created to tie in, but the I-PAC is limited to 4 macros (I put 5 media keys on my panel).

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks :)

I did try a couple, but there are few keys on a standard keyboard that games don't override.  One of the apps even rendered my regular keyboard useless.  Took nearly an hour to fix it using the on-screen keyboard.  The only button that worked was the key I programed.  I am going to try using different drivers to see if I can fool it into working.  I know that works with my wheel (if you force drivers to be a Logitech, it works like a Logitech).  Tho I am sure that is something they did on purpose.  Worth a shot, we'll see.

I am trying to do the same thing although i am only using forward, back, play/pause. How did you get the macros to work with the media buttons. I am looking at running winamp with my hyperpin.
