World of Warcraft - Homage to Joust!
« on: December 13, 2010, 04:34:04 am »
The new World of Warcraft expansion drew my daughter into playing and watching her play drew me back into playing...

I jumped on and was playing my level 80 hunter and was sent to do a quest.  The quest turned out to be an homage to Joust.  While others find the quest as one of the worst; I found it as a nice 3d version of the arcade classic.  I think most people don't like it because you have to keep hitting the flap button to fly and probably requires more hand/eye coordination than the average WoW player has.

I've also heard that there is a Plants vs. Zombies type quest as well, but haven't come across it yet.

Haa thats awesome. I got sucked back into playing too, except I quit before the whole Lich King expansion... I had a 70 orc warlock. I got Lich King and Cataclysm. Ugh, I know in a few months too, Ill probably be over it like I was years ago, but we shall see. I got my GF into too, so hopefully that will make it more fun.

I missed out on so much stuff its ridiculous. I kinda wished I didnt stop playing, there is SOOOO much to do, its sick.
Pictures are overrated anyway.

The problem with games like this is they suck your life. I tried WoW but I found it too easy and the general age of the populace seemed to be around 14 or so.

I'm a FFXI vet of six years now. Was a much more hardcore game with a more mature playerbase. When I look back at the time I've spent on that one game it's kinda worrying. And yes I did play too much that it affected work etc. And that is totally my own fault. I've swore blind I will never play another MMORPG again. I still have my character on FFXI and I haven't quit officially. But I've hardly played in the last 6 months now.

That's pretty awesome, did not see that in my time in the Cata beta.  Unlike most I actually quit because of cata.  Incredible lack of level cap content plus the destruction of the DK class. :(

thats crazy I was thinking 2 years ago that they should have made a a joust quest in Blackrock when Burning crusades came out. Black
rock mount had the perfect setting with the open area, rocks, and lava. Of course my vesion of it was better game play then what I saw in that video. I guess you can't expect much since it is just a quest  :'(

i have never got into wow. during my college days.. i saw class mates not finishing there projects cause they were up all night with wow.. and of course this was when wow was a infant.. its just got more detail bigger worlds now.. and more popular. they called it war crack. heh.  i never tried the game cause of them telling me its addictive and not too.. so i took there advice.  also i do not care to have to pay each month to play a game i may play.  but hey much respect to thos who choose to play it.  :)

reason for me even responding to this thread.. im a huge, and i mean huge joust fan.  there is a joust clone i have on my ipod.. i play it everyday.. cant wait to give it a go with a joystick.

also, I read there was a leak at china blizzard.  to the point of the ceo  of the china branch was fired. seems they are making a diablo 3... im so buying it!! i was addicted to diablo 2. i dunno if it can be played with arcade controls but ill give it a try.

chris.

How so?

The problem with games like this is they suck your life. I tried WoW but I found it too easy and the general age of the populace seemed to be around 14 or so.

Yeah, I noticed the populace is a younger crowd. I dont even get why though, some of them werent even old enough to play the orignal Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. I play it for the continued story, I think its awesome. Even getting my GF into it. Starting off slow, but still cool. Once I get to the cap Ill probably not play as much, and quit like I did before when Burning Crusade came out. For about 2 years since launch, I was playing constantly, me and my friends, but after we finished BC, we decided to quit. Im the one playing again because the story/lore is awesome.
Pictures are overrated anyway.
