Matching U360's (Ping: Andy or DiveMaster?)
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:07:07 am »
Is there any online shop that sells joysticks that match Black Bat Top u360's? I'd assume these are the Sanwa JLW-UM-8?

I'm setting up a 4 player showcase cabinet, and I'd like to order all my controls from one place. I was thinking about going with Divemaster, but I don't see any joysticks to match P3 and P4 (I don't see much point dumping more to get 4 u360's...).

Unless of course I go with Mag Sticks. I'm guessing the feel of them would be closer to the u360's, anyways. The look seems to be close... The cost of them is a bit more than lizardlick sells the JLW-UM-8's for, but the cost of shipping would likely balance that out...

Any suggestions?

the JLW UM 8 definitely matches them exactly.  Ultimarc also sells these as the J-Stick Oval Top

U360's are modified JLWs. So the "feel" will be exactly the same so long as you have the same springs.

Thanks guys! I'm really looking at sticking with a one-stop shop. Divemaster doesn't appear to carry JLW-UM-8's. Are the magsticks comparable?

I can't speak of the Magstik as I have never used one. But I did buy T-Stiks from Ultimarc ages ago on my first project. I can say that the T-Stiks were not like the JLW at all. I found the T-Stik a bit stiff and had a very short throw. If you are trying to match U360's with another stick then the JLW is the way to go. The throw and feel will be the same as long as you have the same springs across the board. Only difference of course is there will be no microswitch clicks with the U360s.

i got two JLW-UM-8 sticks for players 3 and 4 in my showcase cabinet, to match my U360s for players 1 and 2.  they feel pretty similar, however, the JLW has a square restrictor, which makes it feel a little different than a stock u360.  i liked them so much however that i decided to pull out my u360s and replace them with two more JLWs. (i have another cabinet for 4way games, and the only real reason i went with the u360s was so I could play Qbert...as it turns out, the square restrictor on the JLW makes it work great for qbert.)
