Look What I Scored for 140$!!!!!
« on: December 06, 2010, 03:40:49 pm »
I finally got some money to spend and guess what I did? I called an arcade operator and asked him if he was selling some machines and he told me he was. He told me to go by his place to check them out. Folks... what I'm about to tell you is jaw dropping. When I got to his place, we went to a store room of some sort, there he had 2 candy cabs, a bunch of MVS carts, 3 touchscreen jukeboxes, a gambling machine, a bunch of arcade parts and a red cabinet. So he tells me he has the red cabinet for sale and he says he'll sell it to me for 200$ and he'll throw in a Neo-Geo board with all of the cables and power supplies, working coin mechs and 2 MVS carts. I told him I had 140$ but I could give him the rest of the money tomorrow and he agreed. When we were loading the cab in my mom's Grand Vitara he said to me: "You know what? This cab is very dusty and mouldy. I'll take 140$." I smiled. The other day the guy called me and he told me he was selling a gambling machine with a working monitor and power supply and he told that I should come by his house. I did. I told him I wasn't interested in that machine, that I was interested in the candy cab. He told me: "Take it for free, I was going to toss it anyways."  The candy cab came with a monitor, the guy said he did not know if it was working. Yay I now have 2 cabs to work on!!! More pics to come, I'm waiting for a buddy of mine to upload them. Oh and I'm located in Puerto Rico, and it's very difficult to obtain cabs so I got lucky!!!!

Thanks man! I really wanted an arcade cab. Now I have 2! I started building mine last year but couldn't finish it.

Normally I don't go for "modern" takes on arcade cabs, but that's very nice. Not too modern, not too traditional. I like the glossy finish and the chrome molding.

Only question is the control panel. Is it comfortable? It looks to me like there's little to no space to rest your palms while playing.
