Donkey Kong sounds
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:03:29 pm »
I have been away from my cabinet for a while. Today I went to play Donkey Kong and there were no sounds at all, but I know they were there when a played about a year ago. I don't believe I changed anything but I could be wrong  So after some searching I found that it could be the samples were not in the samples directory, although there is some debate as to if they are needed with the later versions of MAME. So I downloaded the samples and put them in the samples directory and I now get the jumping, running and stomping sounds but there is no background sounds. Does anyone know what I am missing? I don't remember ever having the samples installed before so I don't really think that is what the problem is. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the response. I was in a hurry last night as I was looking things over. I have Win XP and Mame .102. Based on my investigation last night it seems I need the samples with that version of Mame but I know this was working before and I don't recall loading the samples and can't imagine why they would be gone now. Also, I have the samples working but there is no music. Like I said in my original post it has been at least a year since I messed with the anything, I know I never changed MAME or the ROMs. I was playing around with different front ends. I am using MAMEWah and always had been. I just don't know what else may have changed. Looking for any ideas. Thanks,
