ok I downloaded newer catalyst drivers got soft15 to install, but it does nothing its almost as if Windows7 is over riding it.  when i install 15khz and then restart the computer it boots into windows fine and doesnt give me the "out of range" on my computer monitor screen.

I recall having some trouble with the latest ATI Catalyst versions, so I went with Catalyst 9.2 and it works great for me.

You're using Soft15khz with a computer monitor?

Sounded to me like he is using the PC monitor for initial setup (you have to), then when you reboot into 15khz mode, you'd know because it'd be out of the resolution range of a computer monitor... He had an image, therefore knows its not 15khz.

you are exactly right TOK.  I knew what to expect because I installed soft15 on a spare computer running a ati 8500 and winxp and it worked just as you said.

DeLuSioNal--- are you running windows 7?

I used to get a message telling me to use 8.6 (or about that) or lower. It ran great after that. Im using XP tho.

yea I getting sick of this I spent about 9hrs yesterday screwing around with 2 computers and my blitz99 cabinet.  could never get the win7 ati4870 computer to work with it.  got an old P4 winxp ati8500 computer to work with it tho. I tested TMNT and the Simpsons on cabmame on the blitz99 cabinet. They looked good but there were some black lines, kinda like some type of graphics artifacts running down the arcade monitor.  I want to get another graphics card running on this arcade monitor so I can see if it is the arcade monitor or the graphics card doing it.

Does Soft 15 KHz actually run on Win7? The required OS's listed does not include Win7, but then again I've seen nothing posted anywhere to state that it won't work on it either. Has anyone had it working on Win7... and if so what card were they using?

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I just got an ati 4870 off ebay and i am trying to get it to work with soft15khz. so far after installing catalyst 9.7, soft 15khz and quickres i am able to see all the res. However, my nanao ms9 through jpac has a black screen every time i reboot after the windows login screen. Anyone else have this problem?

I had that problem too, but on a different card. What I ended up doing, was using the first version of catalyst that supported the video card I was using.

When you get that black screen, what happens when you switch to a normal monitor? Your video card is probably outputting 640x480@30KHz.

Try some different catalyst versions. If i remember anything 9+ gave me problems. I think I ended up using around version 8.
