First Marquee--Please Critique!!!

This is my first marquee attempt for my mame machine. Wanted to go with a piratey kinda feel. Contructive criticism would be highly appreciated. I hope the image shows up ok--first time posting here.

I just replaced the old one with this slightly modified one. I added a little darkness on the right, sharpened the shadow on the Time Machine, and changed the font for 'the'. I want to keep the stroke on Time machine lower, because I want the image to stay as clean as possible. I tried upping the stroke and it got messy. Thanks for all the replies so soon. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Not bad The the in the should be in the same font as the rest of the marquee. Is there a map in the background? If so I might bring it more into focus? just my .02

I'm diggin' it.  I would change the 'THE' to a different font - or better yet lose it altogether.  Maybe a thicker black stroke on the main text - maybe double it.  I really like the colors, and the images in the background are great.  I might tweak it more by darkening the outside edges like you did on the left side.  Nice marquee

I think it looks very nice. I agree about the font. maybe just drop it. For some reason my eye jumps right to sonic and dirk. Maybe adjust the hue a bit or desaturate a little.

Or maybe bring the drop shadow on the text closer with less blur and it will pop.

It is very nice to look at however, great job.

With the changes I think you've got a winner on your hands. Doesn't have that "photoshopped" look to it.

I love how more and more characters kinda popped out at me the more I looked at it. Very very sharp. Great theme.

Very Cool Marquee!  One the most original I have seen.  The only suggestion I have is to have a stronger contrast between the lettering and the backround, or even make the lettering a different color.  To stay with your theme I would say black.

Please dont tell me thats the Lord of the Rings Risk background, if it is Im going to kill myself on basis of being too damn nerdy.  Anyways, looking really good, I like the original feel of it, it will go really well as a marquee for sure.  The characters in the background are very cool how they fade into the map.  Ya know what game has a font kind of like that that might have a few aspects you could borrow, is Ducktales for the genesis, its really easy to emulate, just do a google search.  If I remember right, its got a map in the background too, and looks actually pretty slick.

No, the map in the BG is from some no-name RPG I found through Google image search. I never thought of using the LoTR Risk Map. Hmmmm.....
