I need ideas on where to place the bartop (other than a bar) Originally when I built mine I was going to put it on the bartop, but I'm finding I'd rather leave that space empty for another person to sit at.

Lets see pics of where you have your bartop arcades, so I can get ideas on the furniture that is being used to hold these things.

Thanks!

Heres a pic of mine for now, still homeless

Here's an old 'Slimline Bar-Top' we built, which we just sat on a foldable TV dinner-table when we wanted to play it:

Sounds like you just need a full size cabinet.

I originally built this bartop (in my signature thread). It was originally going to use two DB25 plug in single player CPs with cord so two players could place the bartop on the coffee table and put a CP on their laps:

And then decided to turn it into a portable mini by also building a base and insertable CP. This made it extremely portable. The CP was regular arcade cab height as was the screen, the unit was just not as tall  or wide ;)

I sold it and do miss it...ill build another eventually though.  For now the Aliens cab gives me all the play I need but unfortunately it can't be lugged around anywhere without a moving truck  :laugh2:

It looks really great but I wouldn't like playing 6 button games like Street Fighter with buttons orientated like that.

A lot of inner-city Brits got used to this back in the day as we had to put up with bad JAMMA conversions in the few arcades that were available - you soon adjust and no-one's ever struggled with the layout, particularly as Bar-Tops tend to be for more casual gaming. It's more common now though for us to build them slightly wider at the customer's request with the more familiar '2x3' button layout; this example was just an excercise in space-saving.

Besides, what difference does it make since all you're doing is mashing buttons?

I like seeing photos of arcade cabinets in place and people's gameroom setups. It's inspirational.
