best way to mount an LCD screen?

I have seen people who mount their lcd screen with the frame and all, but I could have sworn I saw someone take one out of a case and put it inside a piece of wood (like you can do with tvs and pc monitors).  Are there any guides on how to do this? or does it just make more sense to not take it out of the case?

If it is upright then just double sided tape and a shelf

If it is flat or angled back the way I do it is to remove the stand.

I then build it right up against a flat bezel and run a length of batten each side,

Then I can put a brace of batten across the top and bottom and it goes nowhere. have done this on several jukeboxes so far with no problems seen yet.

Alternately you could get an LCD wall mount kit and use that to secure to MDF and then all you have to do is screw the MDF into place

I mounted my LCD's several different ways...  For my MAME cab I actually used an LCD mounting bracket.  I then mounted the bracket to a piece of wood that I used as a backdrop for the monitor area.

You can't really see it well on my crappy iphone pics.



for my Pincab backglass, I de-cased the LCD and used t-nuts(blind nuts) and the existing mounting holes located in the corners of most LCD frames.

I have that same bracket.  I was planning on making my MAME cabinet screen rotate for pinball, but I decided to build a full size digital pin instead.

They do have VESA mounts, but depending on the size the mounting holes/supports may be attached to the plastic casing of the LCD and not the metal support frame inside.  Based on the 4 that I have all of the screens that are 32" and under have the mounting on the plastic case and above 32" the mounting is on the metal frame.  Depending on if you are leaving the bezel on or de-casing will determine how you mount the LCD.

unfortunately my monitor doesn't have the holes for mounting... it's a pc monitor/tv  not sure why they wouldn't include that on a 24" considering an 18" hp monitor I just sold had the holes.

I did mine a fairly simple way, but was pleased with it all the same.

I cut a piece of 18mm MDF to wth width of my cab, routed out a shape at the bottom to allow access to the ports on the bottom of the monitor then drilled holes that lined up with the VESA mount on the back of the monitor and bought some 4mm machine screws. The MDF is secured into the cab by screws that go into 32mmx32mmx150mm blocks that are screwed into the cabinet at each end.

If/when the monitor fails, it can be removed by removing the MDF from the rear of the cab with the monitor still attached. Remember to consider how you're going to take it out of you need to. It would be easy to mount a monitor but have no method of removing it after the cab is finished.

I moved the mount lower by 1cm since I took these pictures but works quite well.
