Any reason why Popeye (Revision F) runs so slow???

I can't seem to figure it out... everything else I am running is smooth as hell EXCEPT for Popeye.  The audio stutters like crazy (everything does, actually).  Has anyone else run into this problem?  Would going to a different version (revision) fix the problem?  My computer specs are pretty good and it runs Killer Instinct, SFIII and pretty much everything within reason with no trouble.

Sounds like you're running a newer MAME.  Try stepping back to an older version.

There are two bugs with Popeye.

One is sound based and the other is a sprite issue.  I'm not sure if they would cause this problem or not.

I'm running MAME .119 something...  Popeye is the only game I've tried that doesn't work!  Maybe they haven't got all the kinks worked out?  Is anyone else having problems with it?

My PC is slow and it runs fine on it using the newest Mame.
