PacMan sitdown worth?
« on: March 16, 2010, 08:28:59 pm »
A friend of mine's coworker has a "sitdown" style cab that he wants to sell for 200 bucks. He says it is in perfect shape (no screen burn in, etc) as his grandmother was the one who owned it (original owner) before he got it a few years ago. Supposedly she had only used it on occassion. (Yeah I know, little old lady car that was only driven on sundays... :D ). This leads me to believe it may be a MsPacman, but I will have to see it when he gets it out of his POD next week or so.
Just wondering the worth of this cab, esp since pacmans are everywhere...

Note: This entire response is based on "sitdown" meaning "cocktail".  I have no knowledge of any other type of PacMan which you would play seated...  If there is one of course I would say it would be worth substantially more.  :P

If PacMan was on my list I would be all over that.  Heck I might even buy to resell.

This one has been "upgraded" to include additional games but even still should give you some idea of a Pactail in decent condition.

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

$250-$500 is a reasonable price range, although MsPacs will, on occasion, run higher, particularly for the cocktails.

Ahh cool. I personally dont like cocktail cabs (for the life of me I couldn't remember what they were called). I will take a look at it in a few weeks. This thread should prolly be in B/S/T as my friend who works with the guy who owns this could prolly hook up anyone living in Maine. A few hours drive to get this thing (assumming it is worth it) might be worthwhile for any pac-Maine-iacs.

I paid 250 for a nice pac cocktail, had hum bars, was just a loose harness connector fixed it in like 10 minutes, kept it a year and sold it.
Cocktails are nice and its fun to head to head with a friend,  they do take up more floor space than an upright.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

if you dont want it and its in good shape, I'd love to get it, it'd have to be shipped since Im in delaware, but that'd be the perfect retirement gift for my mom
