i used 1/8" plexi on mine, which i beleive comes out to just over 3mm and it works just fine.  i'd be a little concerned with the thinner stuff being too flexible..but it really depends on how you are doing it.  if the Tmolding covers the edge of the plexi, then it should be fine.  if the plexi sits above the t-molding, i'd be afraid of it getting caught on clothing and getting pulled up.

Thanks. Yea, Plexi on mine will be above the t-moulding. Going to have to think of a good way to secure it, as I don't want it too thick, but also don't want to crack it when securing.

Mine is 1/8" and it's just right for my needs. I could go thicker, but never thinner.

+1 more for 3mm.

Your buttons should hold it down presuming you are using the nut type, you shoudn't need to use mounting screws etc.

Agreed on the 3mm (1/8") or greater..not thinner.

Also make sure you use a router to flush trim around the edge...don't try to score it by hand as it is too prone to errors.  Use a smaller drill bit to create a pilot hole (buttons/joys) and then flush trim to prevent cracks.

I only have the buttons holding mine down and it's worked fine for the last two years.

Same with laminate...buttons are usually fine and the edge is held in place with the T Molding and that is all you really need.
