Hello men,

I return to see you after his a few times to speak about my last creation , the Multi-Video-Games-System:

Thanks to this adapter which connects on USB port of your PC, you can play for the moment with the emulators Atari2600, Atari7800, Master-System, Nes, Megadrive, super-Nintendo, Gx4000, PC-Engine, supergameboy with their original gamepads.

The original gamepads are modified, their cable are replaced by a HD-15 connector and their printed circuits was modified too.

Indeed, each pads will have a single and same HD-15 cable to connect to the MVGS.

The first pack:

-The box:

-Inside the box:

-The instruction book:

-First you must connect the MVGS on your pc:

-First, the MVGS is detected as a gamepad:

-Second, the MVGS is detected as a usb key:

-In the usb key you have a .exe, when you click on, a menu appear and you can select your video games system:

-Now to play you must connect the HD-15 cable on the MVGS and to the gamepad:

-Now you can play for example to Wonderboy3 on master system, to megaman on nes, etc....:

And  2 videos here:

And Here you can find all explications:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/ultimate.arcade/tuto14.htm

See you later. ;)

PS: sorry for my english, i'm french....

I have to find one of those Super Gameboy Commanders.  I didn't know they existed before now.  What a cool accessory!

I like the project.  The only part I would try and fix is the use of the DB15 cable.  I've actually tried to do a similar project myself involving interchangeable classic controllers for use with the XBOX and was put off by the stiffness and weight of DB15 cables.  I was able to find "ultra-thin" ones that were much better than the usual but even then the issue of the stiffness still detracted from the experience so I scrapped the project.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Yeah, I have to agree about the cable comment. Looks way to clunky and stiff. My first thought was an ethernet cable, but that wouldn't get you quite enough wires, I'm guessing.

I've done this same thing for the Xbox as well, and yep, the DB-15 cables are stiffer than the OEM.  Unfortunately, you need all those wires.

Ooohh, that does look much more flexible! I'm going to have to pick up a few of those.  I curious as to why they are DB15 though...  What would you plug that into?

15 Wires (14 signals, and a ground), 15 pins, db15, would be my guess. Any controller with more buttons than these are SOL, but probably pretty rare. My guess is the controllers are just wired up to skip the IC, and the db15 carries wires to an encoder-type device (like an i-pac or keywiz, for the BYOAC'ers). Not really rocket science considering the audience...

I wasn't wondering about this guys hack...  If you read my post before that one you'll see that I've done a similar hack.  I was referring to the M$ Sidewinder.  I must not be old enough to remember when computers had DB15 connectors for gaming inputs.

They were MIDI ports on sound cards. More people used them for game controllers than MIDI.

I've been proven wrong.

I had a DB15 gamepad that had another db15 on the other end, and you could stack them up, and have multiple controllers on the port. There was a switch on the bottom of the controller to select the controller number.

Actually...

They were game ports, and their primary use was always game controllers.

MIDI abilities came later, and they required adapters.

Ahhhhh....

I have a MIDI keyboard with an adapter and didn't understand why it needed one. Now I know.

Thanks.

OK, I understand now...  Should have CHECKED THE WIKI.  According to it, the "game port" is DA-15 and a VGA, SVGA & XVGA port is DE-15.

Looks like I have something new to look out for when I go to the Goodwill.

very nice collection you have there!   :applaud:  Only a couple I don't recognize in there, the one under the megadrive and the one on the top far right.
I'm actually in the process of doing something similar, except I didnt want to modify old gamepads ,so picked up a couple usb adapters for snes and n64 and plan to use the schematics here: http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/atari_usb/index_en.php to try and make the usb adapters for nes, atari 2600 and sega.
