Disable animated avatars
« on: February 27, 2010, 04:26:05 pm »
Is it possible to disable animated avatars without disabling all avatars?  Every now and then I see one that is more or less acceptable, but about 95% of the time it's one like ark_ader's current with the scary clown thing that is quite possibly the dorkiest thing I have ever seen and having to see it looped just sort of makes me die a little inside.  Anyway, I don't want to disable avatars altogether, but I wouldn't mind hiding the animated gifs.  Is this possible?

Just hit the ESC key if it isn't possible to disable them. Short term solution.

With adblock you can right-click and disable a specific avatar
With Firefox you can change a setting in about:config that disables looping or playing at all of animated GIFs.
Quote
  1.  In the Location Bar type about:config and hit Enter
   2. Type "anim" in the Filter field (to quickly find the needed preference)
   3. Double-click the image.animation_mode line and edit it to one of the following:

none — will prevent image animation
once — will let the image animate once
normal (default) — will allow it to play over and over

Now we're talking!  I'm already running adblock.

I should change my current one and replace it with a scarier one,but Saint would just make me delete it....
