Can't get the top off a TT2
« on: February 23, 2010, 04:39:48 pm »
This may seem like a really silly/dumb question but I can't for the life of me get this sorted out!

I have two TT2's. When I got them I replaced the top of one with a weighted MAME logo knob, which is fine. I am trying to take the (standard) top off the other to replace with a Mini Racer but it seems the allen key is the wrong size. Is it the same size as the MAME logo knob nut? Because it doesn't seem to fit either of my standard tops but fits the MAME one perfectly.

Thanks guys - I'm pulling my hair out over here!

Cheers

My big blue knob on my TT2 is fastened with 2 flathead screws.

Thanks for your reply Epyx. Mine's not - but your post did give me the idea of trying a small precision-type "star-head" screwdriver - bit of wiggling got that nut loosened :)

Thanks for your help

Glad it worked out.

So I take it this means they come attached in a variety of ways..good to know.

What good is that the steering wheel doesn't have any screw at all to tighten.  So you'll never face this issue again.

Maybe a little late, but the hardware pack that came with that particular spinner should have had a proper size wrench included.  It's a 5/64ths standard allen key.

The one included with the MAME knob is larger.

Hi Randy - thanks for the heads up. I can completely believe that the standard spinner top came bundled with the allen key, just as I can also completely believe that I've lost it somewhere *ahem* - I got it off no problem the first time when I put the MAME knob on it.

Thanks again all
