Custom Labeled Buttons?
« on: February 14, 2010, 07:46:47 am »
Is there anyone out there making custom printed buttons?

I've been pooling ideas for a cab for a while now....(even though I sold my pacman because I rent and didn't want to have to move it again  :banghead: )
I'd like to have a few simple navigation buttons, so I don't have to explain (and re-explain) multiple keypresses to my guests.

I've seen labels integrated into the control panel artwork and they look pretty cool, but is anyone out there making "exit" and "start game" arcade buttons?

Can't recommend Pongo enough.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Thanks.  I was trying to avoid decals, but may still go that route.
Thought maybe someone out there had silkscreened buttons.

I'm going to see what I can do with a template & airbrush.
Might take me a month to get around to it, but I'll post pics if they turn out halfway decent.

bit of an eyesore, but I'd never have to explain it.

There's a used one listed on fleabay that shows the back of it.  It's a friggin arcade button.
Looks to be standard size arcade button from the back with a standard microswitch snapped in place.

Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your taste), I could buy an entire set of arcade buttons for what one of these cost.

I've tried Pongo (great work) and Uberstickers (also great work).

Here's the Ubersticker's website with samples.  I believe they also do "a la carte" item for 50 cents each.  You can also contact them if you need something custom made.

I would say pongo is your best bet or uberstickers...

I've heard good things about the stickers and applied some already. I don't have my control panel set up yet so I can't tell you how long they last with normal use, but I imagine using normal spraypaint may rub off over time. The stickers don't look like stickers when applied, you can feel the sticker if you rub your finger around it.. but seriously, who does this? Usually you just tap the button and the button
