Lucky Find, thanks to good friends!
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:15:46 am »
I use to play Everquest, back in the day, and meet alot of people, Thur ( through, sorry lazy by nature... ) those people I have become close with only a handfull, One of them being Cory Anderson, of Anderson Microtech.  He builds custom computers, and I have ordered quite a few over the years.

Finally about 7 years ago, I was able to meet him face to face at a Fan Faire, here in Vegas.  much to my Surprise, he was in a wheel chair,  We have been in Vert, talked to him for hours over the phone, and not once did he ever let on about this fact.  It inspired me and made me take a good look at my life, and how lucky I have it, also made think about how no matter what the situation, life goes on, and you can accomplish anything.  He has become a mentor to me, and a Friend.

Two years ago, the wife and I drove up to Gilroy, Ca. to Meet up with Cory and his family for the garlic festival, And I Got to meet his kids, and home.  I noticed in his garage he had a Box there with the words "Dragon's Lair" on it...

I asked him what he was doing with it, and he said that its just collecting dust, and if I wanted it, $1,000 and it would be mine.  Would of bought it there on the spot, but didnt have a truck at the time, and I let him know that one day i would be back for it.

Last month, he gave me a call and asked if I still wanted the Cab, and i said sure, Tho i was short on cash because of x-mas, and such, he told me to forget the money and come grab it before his wife gave it away to the salvation army.  She wanted it gone to make room in the garage.  Needless to say, It's now sitting in my game room.  It's in MINT condition.  Only 120 games played, not a scratch, and only one bulb burnt out on it.  LOL

Its amazing to me how small this world is, and more amazing the friendships we make thur( through ) computers.  Thur ( through ) gaming, Forums here at BYOAC and Hyperspin, and else where, I have grown found of the charators and people we see post everyday.  There is a person behind each one of these posts, a voice, and maybe your next friend.

Enough of the sentimental ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, on with the Pics!!!

Great Story!

I've been in Santa Cruz for about 2 years (moved out for graduate school) and actually was able to visit the Garlic festival in Gilroy a year ago. Not a big fan of the garlic ice cream, but the garlic and crab fries kick ass

I've seen your videos on youtube, kick ass man.  I'm working on the same type of setup, but simpler.. I'm in the process of working out the layout for my control panel with the guy making it. I'm trying to figure out how to make a stand for the panel itself though.

do you have lightguns setup w/ your system?

Glad you made such a great find!

It is really surprising that arcade machines like DL2 is gathering in peoples garages.

Nice story.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Im thinking Thru (through)
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I assumed as much, but there isn't a single instance of thru. It is thur. Still I obviously assumed he meant through though, as contextually it makes sense, but what an odd way of putting it. It is like he is trying to start his own version of teh or pwned.

Just looked silly to me is all.
