Advmame/Advmenu DOS will run under pure DOS or Win9x not NT/2000. If you want to run it in NT/2000 then get the Advmame/Advmame WINDOWS version, and if you want to rit in LINUX, then get the LINUX version (is there a LINUX version, I dunno, I only use the DOS version).

This is taken directly form Advmame

"Please note that for Windows 98
* Thenasty the suggested choice is the DOS version."

If you are thinking of using AdvMame, you need to do alot of reading first, you aint gonna get it started as easy as you think.
Go to Advmame and read some documentation in there so you can decide what you want.

i read about advance mame. You look to force me for using advancemame. As i
mentoined before i am only intrested in Advancemenu to setup with just MAME not Advancemame.Advancemame is disgn for an arcade monitor to give a sitable range of resolution and sync.

One more thing to Ask is .
Q: I read somewhere that Advancemame has the capablity to produce (mng.wav)files for playing a video demonstration in Advancemenu.
Is there any other way to do that? ;)

only Advmenu uses/play the mng files thats been created with Advmame. No other EMU creates mng files. Other EMU uses WINDOWS so they make AVI/SWF/MPG or some other video format to play videos while in a FE.

Evrytime I talk about one of this 2 program, I always talk about both of them. Its a perfect match in heaven. Example, IMO I have never seen an EMU and FE that during an IDLE (2minutes), the FE (Advmenu) picks a ramdome game and load it, then ADVMAME IDLE (2minutes), exit out of the game and go back to the FE, and it goes in cycle again and again. And of course the MNG files, only ADvmame can create it and when Advmenu uses it, it also uses it as a screen saver playing the mng files (see the screen changes games every 20/10 seconds).
Takes alot of setting up in the begining, but once you get a hang of it, you don't want to turn and look at another MATCH.

I know that AdvanceMame and Advancemenu are perfect for each other, because i am using an other unofficial MAME version so I can't set Advancemame with Advancemenu.

You said that "If you are thinking of using AdvMame, you need to do alot of reading first, you aint gonna get it started as easy as you think."

I try my best but can't be able to afford a little more...
Dos version of Advancemenu has a graphical user interace so i run it on win98.
I set most of the things require in Advancemenu.rc file but I have'nt see the main program running...
when it run,in starts it go to DOS mode...
for i moment it looks that its working but it gives a messege which I can't check...
When i saw Advancemenu i like it very much, but when it not working i am just using another frontend.
will you plz tell me how to set advancemenu to run...

a new version of Advmenu just got realease, use that.

Steps:
1. You need to go to the command prompt (don't double click it)
2. You need to create a video mode that will go in Advmenu.rc
for the type of monitor you are gonna use.
3. Need to setup Advmenu.ec to the proper DIRECTORIES
     use EDIT.

Run Advmenu (report what you got).
