Where to find older versions of MAME 64-bit
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:17:55 am »
I just bought a new computer for the pinball cab I just built, however, Future Pinball doesn’t seem to like the 64-bit Windows 7 OS.  So much for “If you build it, they will come”.  Anywho…  I decided to install MAMEUI 64 bit so the machine wouldn’t go to waste (I needed a rig for my newest cab anyway).

My question is this – I’m running .136 but have a .131 romset.  I’ve googled/binged/yahooed and while I can find previous versions of MAME, I can’t find the older 64-bit versions anywhere.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  Or is it completely unnecessary to “downgrade”.

Thanks!

Mamedev.org has 'em, but you have to do some fudge work.  The web site only links to the 32 bit versions; just add "_64bit" to the file name.  For example, mamedev.org has a link to http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=mame0131b.exe.  Change that to http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=mame0131b_64bit.exe.

Yeah... I would've never thought of that.

Thanks!  Worked like a charm!

Any info on what version went 64-bit?  I'm using .119 32-bit and was looking for the 64-bit version.

I'm not sure.  But I guess you can give the above tip a try to see if the link actually returns a file.

If your still wondering, v0120 was the first to go 64bit. The above trick does still work, but it would be better to compile it yourself. Just use "Mame Compiler 64" http://www.headsoft.com.au/index.php?category=mame&page=mc64 nice and easy.
