help with MAME
« on: July 07, 2010, 01:09:29 am »
OK so I've got the neogeo.zip in my roms folder but when I got to play games like metal slug or capcom vs snk it says there's files missing in both mame and mame 32.  So I downloaded Kawaks a neo geo and CPS emulator and it plays these games like magic but there program isn't arcade cabinet friendly, So my question is how can I get metal slug and those other games working in mame OR can I hook up Kawaks to a front end that will work in a cab?

It sounds like your ROM set does not match the version of MAME that you are trying to use.  The Neo Geo specific emulators doe not have the CRC checks that MAME has.  So, just because they work in Kawaks doesn't mean they will work in MAME.

Thanks, I was thinking that might be a problem, is there a way to get the updated roms, or figure out what older version of MAME I need to run the ones I have?
