Other Build Your Own Arcade Sites?
« on: October 19, 2009, 11:22:59 pm »
Hey guys, are there any other build your own arcade sites out there, or is this really the only/best one that people frequent?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You're at the best. There's no reason for others to exist.
Introducing The Tone Ledger, a premium 5x7 inch, 100 pg notebook designed for guitarists, bassists, keyboardists...pretty much anyone who enjoys using amps and pedals. Great for experienced musicians, hobbyists, or students just getting started.

This is a nice European one:
http://forum.dragonslairfans.com
It's from a Dragon's Lair fan that has 40 classics or so in his shed, so they discuss all kind of cabs and restoring too.
And for all small scale Retro DIY projects:

I think the OP is intending to look for other resources as definitive as this for arcade cabinet building, rather than the hobby itself. In which case - Ginsu's comment stands.

The forums at shoryuken.com have hundreds of custom arcade sticks and a few excellent examples of scratch built cabs.  It is the # 1 source of information if you are looking to build a cab dedicated to fighting games.

forums.shoryuken.com tech talk section

neo-geo.com and shmups.com also have some nice threads relating to BYOAC.

Yesh! Great thread and awesome documentation. I read this one a few months ago, it's so inspiring. I love how he has plans to keep expanding it. :)
