MAMEWAH Multi-Emulator Set-up Help
« on: October 08, 2009, 07:02:06 pm »
OK, happy to have gotten MAMEWAH up and running with MAME.
I've got muliple emulators I'd like to add.
Is there a way to configure MAMEWAH to be able to cycle through and list the roms by the various emulators?  (LIke with Hyperspin which I tried, but runs like a dog on my pc).
And yes I read the WIKI, but can't seem to answer this question.

Thanks in advance!

Sweet!  Much appreciated!

Ok, so I downloaded and installed RockNesX final version.
I have the emulator loaded up in c:\NES
And the roms unzipped and loaded into folder c:\NES\roms

Now what?

go to your mamewah config folder.  you should have a folder in there for mame.

copy this folder and rename it rocknesx (or NES or whichever name you want).

go into this new folder and your mame.ini should have been copied also.  rename the ini to rocknesx.ini

now open this ini and change all of the paths that you set up for mame (e.g. the rom path, etc.) to point to your nes roms, etc.

change list generation method to rom_folder

i've never run rocknesx so i don't know what the command line will be but it should be something like (this is my nestopia command line, just change it to point to your rocknesx.

d:\emulators\nestopia\nestopia.exe "[rompath]\[name].[romext]"

go ahead and run mamewah.  you should be able to hit number "2" to bring up the sub menu.  then go to "select platform", you should then have mame and rocknes to choose from.

let me know how it goes.

Rather than doing them one at a time, you could have a look at the doco I created:

I'm really looking for an option where a guest at my house can cycle through multiple emulator options and then pick a game, like how hyperspin is set up.
I don't think this is going to work as it sounds like I need go to an internal options menu to toggle between the emulator options.

Correct?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Ok, on my control panel, next to each player start button, I have a pause/select button. In mamewah.cfg, I mapped the emulator menu to P1 pause and select game list to P2 pause.

Just look in mamewah.cfg and you'll find options you can map to whatever button you want on your control panel.

I appreciate the advise, but I think I'm going to try another route.  I really want a visual screen display option for my guests.
