Control Panel Completed
« on: October 01, 2009, 12:16:06 am »
OK, so it's not an arcade game control panel, but it does have some pushbuttons (hence the mention here). I made this for my boys and their rocket ship. The pushbuttons turn the LEDs above them blinking or off, and set the button pad (right) to different configurations. The button pad buttons each have an RGB LED in it, which cycles colors when its corresponding button is pushed. It's difficult to get a picture, but the lights are nice and brightly colored. The sliders on the left control the speed of the blinking LEDs. Also, some may notice that I borrowed Pixelhuggers logo for the emblem in the lower-left. It was just so fitting, how could I not?

Anyway, just sharing. That is all.

Thanks, they do. The button pad starts off all on random colors when it turns on, so they sit there trying to get them all the same color.

I forgot to put a picture of the rocket ship, so here it is. This was a one-day project we did on Father's day last year.

I can guarantee you that that is a project they will remember into adulthood. What a cool family project and some great quality time with your boys.

You should have one of those coffee mugs that says "#1 Dad" or "Best Dad Ever" or something!   :notworthy:

I'm sure you had as much fun building it as they did.

That is way too cool. Your kids must love it.

My control panel was drawn in red crayon on the inside of a cupboard door. My cousin and I would hide in there, time it just right and blow up "Killdozer" using our controls. Haven't thought of that in a decade or 2.

For those who may not know. Killdozer is a 1974 cheesy assed movie about a bulldozer that comes to life after being exposed to a meteors radiation and starts killing people... or something like that.

The ultra cheese we used to watch.

Thanks everyone. My spaceships and control panels were also drawn with a crayon when I was a kid. Hop in a box, flip the flap over and draw yer controls. Or if there was no box available, it was chalk on the driveway. Our driveway was separated into four concrete squares, each perfect for a (large) ship.

Franco, I'll try to see if I can get any video to turn out.
