So what's happened to the GameCube?

Well, you might want to start calling it "McCube" now.  We went out to eat last night (dinner or food being a somewhat dicey choice of words) at our local McDonald;s.  What did they have new in the kiddie playland?  A kiosk for 8 kids (2 controllers per side), running a Gamecube and a preloaded game.

I haven't been to a McDonald's in years, but one of the them near where I used to live had the same sort of setup, but with N64s.

You in the Baltimore area? Maybe they've upgraded. :)

Sound's pretty cool, I never encountered anything like that when I was a kid :( With all the superfluous gamecubes lying around I'd say that is a pretty good use.

I still have mine but what with the wii's backwards compatability it doesnt do much these days..

Hope they plan on replacing controllers when needed, because those sticks will take a beating.

Not too unusual... I've seen a lot of those in McD's over the years.  I've seen them with 3d0, N64, and GC.  Saw one once with another "kid gaming" platform I couldn't ID from the outside of the cabinet.

one of our local McDonalds ripped out their outdoor play structure about a year or so ago and instead installed one of these kiosks.  it is a 3 sided unit, it has a ps2, gamecube and xbox in it, all at different heights.  (gamecube is lowest to the ground, then ps2, then xbox.) there is also a small touch screen game mounted on the wall next to it with a little bench.    we were in there not that long ago and most of the controllers were broken.  but i had a proud moment anyway when my 2 year old son walked over to it and said "daddy...xbox" and he was even pointing to the xbox controller.

i wouldnt be suprised if you see more of these poping up, especially since you can get gamecubes for next to nothing at this point
