Can Anyone Here Make Xbox 'Trainers'?
« on: September 03, 2009, 02:05:47 am »
Or know anyone who can?

Not that I want to cheat but I need to fix a game.  Basicly, I want to run Crazy Taxi 3 on Xbox with the Mad Catz MC2 universal racing wheel.  Here's the issue, while on PS2 and Game Cube the shifter and pedals can be reprogramed then can't for Xbox.  I have no idea.  So for Xbox the shifter is X and B, however CT3 on Xbox only has TWO control profiles.  A and B for shifting or the analog triggers.  Nither of which are useful.

I need a 'trainer' that, rather than cheat, can basicly swap the A and X buttons so I can actually shift UP using the shifter on the racing wheel.

Yeah, silly, but anyone know a guy?  I imagine the task will be stupid simple for anyone who actually knows how to make Xbox trainers

Considdering the shifter CAN be reprogramed for PS2 and GameCube, I'm pretty sure that simply rewireing it is easier said than done.

I have this wheel and just tried it on Crazy Taxi for PS2 and Crazy Taxi 3 on Xbox.  You can reprogram the shifter and pedals so it definitely will work.  No need to rewire anything.

Wait, you can reprogram it for Xbox?

I have two Universal MC2s (Slightly different versions, mainly in their plugs) and they can be reprogrammed for PS2 and Gamecube no problem, however on Xbox the reprogramming button doesn't do anything.  The manual also doesn't list any reprogramming features for Xbox, only PS2 and GameCube.

The Xbox only MC2's manual in a PDF I downloaded ALSO doesn't mention any reprogramming feature at all.

Have you tried reprogramming on PS2 and Xbox?

Yes, I have the Universal MC2 Mad Catz Wheel.  The Yellow one, Model Number 6320.  Just this past Wednesday, I've programmed it for PS2 Crazy Taxi and Xbox Crazy Taxi 3 so that the shifter does D and R and pedals do Accel and Brake .  I have the instructions.  It basically says, press the program button, the red light will be activated, press the shifter up or down or the accel pedal or the brake (whichever one you want to program), the red light will then flash, then press the desired button you want assigned to whatever shifter or pedal you had indicated.  The red light will turn off indicating it took the program.  To clear back to default, press the Program button, then press the button twice to reset.

I actually have the RED Universal MC2s.  Maybe the yellow ones are different.  Hrm. :/

http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/72/86/58/06/0072865806320_215X215.jpg  <--- They look like that

Like that.  I have two and they absolutely don't program for the Xbox.  I press the 'program' button and nothing happens.  And the wheel just keeps working as a controller.  On PS2 (I have no GameCube) if I press program the red LED goes on and the buttons don't act as controls untill I've programmed the new control.  I've confirmed this on BOTH of my MC2s.

Apparently SOME Universal MC2's do it and some don't.  I guess I need to try a yellow one, huh?  I bet you the red one's were made earlier and the yellow ones are a hardware revision.

THe model number doesn't seem to change but the copyright date does.  On the bottom of one set of petals it says Model 6320, (C)2002.  Another says Model 6320, (C)2003.  They also have SOME differences.  Namely in the plugs for the consoles.  They are a bit different and the 2003 one features the Xbox breakaway cable while the 2002 doesn't break away.

Would you midn telling me what copyright yours features?  If it's 2004 or 2005, I could use that information to help me track down a wheel that DOES program for Xbox.  (Which would help with Outrun 2006 as well!)

But this is great, it means I might find an MC2 that works for the games I want it to work for.

At the bottom of the instructions where it says to call Mad Catz's Hotline if there are any problems it says "Model No: 6320 09/06"  So I guess that means Sep 2006.  I believe a few Gamestops near me might still have one if you don't have any luck finding any in your area maybe we can work something out.

I think I'd MUCH prefer to shop around locally.  I already have two of these wheels and honestly, one would probably cost more to ship to Canada than the price of actually BUYING one. :X
