3do/ freedo help
« on: September 20, 2009, 06:11:47 pm »
I can't get this one to run at all, even stand alone.

I have looked all around for bios files and while I have found some. they don't seem to be getting the job done for me.

I have:
Fz10_rom.bin

as well as:
Pansaonic REAL 3DO Interactive Multiplayer FZ-10 v1.59.1.1 (...  ROM file
Pansaonic REAL 3DO Interactive Multiplayer FZ-1 (1993-08-03(... ROM file
Sanyo TRY 3DO Interactive multiplauer v1.59 (1994-... ROM file
GoldStar 3DO Interactive Multiplayer v1.59 (199... ROM File

Freedo asks for a bios, and defaults to looking for ROM type file, if i tell it to look at all file types and select the Fz10_rom.bin, it tells me "ASPI not found"

If i select any of the other files it tells me "ASPI not found"

Any Ideas?

which version of freedo are you running?  i had the same thing running older versions.  1.9 fixes that

Looks like I have v1.8.

I'll try 1.9 and see if that makes any difference then.

ok.  I updated to the 1.9

Bios load fine. In fact multiple bios work.

But I still can't get a game to load. Just the bios.

If i select it, it will just pretend nothing happened and only show the bios.

This might be a format issue. I only have two 3DO games on my pc library so far.

Which format do you usually have your 3DO files in?

i have bin/cue and also iso images.  do you load the game and then select run (i think)?

just the 3do bios loads like a real machine, 3do main screen?

I did solve this issue, but i cant give precise details off hand.

I updated to the newest version (1.9 at the time) and played around with using the different bios I had collected, until one just worked.

Also I think another thing worth noting about the 3do emulator, is that honestly its kind of slow when booting up most games. Unlike the dreamcast emulator (nulldc) and PSX emulator (epsxe), it does not load up a bios/game within the first few seconds for most games. So it may just load up a black screen for 20 seconds before anything visible boots.

However most of the games run alright. I noticed that the Wing Commander game with Mark Hamil has visual issues, but this game also exists and seems to run fine on PS1 emulation if anyone wants to play that one.

Saturn emulation is the one that ive had the most trouble with, and just gave up bothering with, as that it seems the compatibility list isnt that impressive, and once you have psx, dreamcast, 3D0, and pc games, saturn doesnt really seem all that worth the effort to me.

The Jaguar emulator also seems like a POS.
