Edit MAME Rom
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:49:18 pm »
Is there a way to edit a MAME Rom? What i want to do is remove the message "Video emulation isn't %100 accurate Press ok" when opening up a game. I'm using MAMEui32 0.122u1. One reason I want this gone is I use Maximus Arcade as my FE and I use the screensaver that runs a game from my fav list for a few mins. When it gets to lets say Galaga, it wont show the attract mode unless you hit OK.

You'll need to compile your own version of MAME with a 'no-nag' patch/diff.  Start here:

I think I am already using a "pre-compiled" version with the no-nag patch. Maybe not. I tried compiling once before and gave up when it didn't work. Maybe I gotta try again.

As ahofle hinted, that has nothing to do with the rom.  Mame doesn't (yet?) emulate it 100%, and wants to let the user know it's not close to perfect, so don't expect it to be, so don't complain when it doesn't work perfectly.

If you're using the official MameUI, it has the warnings included.

BTW, any reason you're using the UI version if you have a real frontend?

I know I can use the command line MAME w/  my FE but I'm used to this for now. I will switch over soon.

Yeah, it's not bad to use mameUI launched from another FE, and there are some pluses in doing so.  But there are a few minuses too.

One of the biggest pluses is stepping up from mameUI to a real FE launching the same mameUI is easier than moving to a new mame at the same time.

But it's easier for me (and many people here) to support plain mame + FE, than mameUI + FE.  (Among the other reason to use CLI mame.)  But don't worry about switching if you don't ned to.
