For those of you still interested in MAME on the original Xbox....There is a new version of CoinOps Ignite R2 in High Definition 720p. It runs a good amount of games and it has a good menu. It uses 0.84 roms. Google is your friend

Has anyone used this to run an arcade cab? I'm concidering using an xbox with something like this instead of a computer setup.

I do have an Xbox arcade cab, but this is the first I have ever heard of CoinOps Ignite.

I got mine set up years ago with MAMEoX, and hadn't really seen any need to change it, since it worked fine.

This CoinOps Ignite does look purty though.

Hogie_one, if you are looking for a good front end for an Xbox arcade cab, you should look into Unleashed X. It is an extremely customizable dashboard.

I customized it so that I have a picture of an arcade cab (that looks very similar to the one I built). Moving up or down on the joystick scrolls the marquee on the cab for game selection, while the screen of the cab shows a preview video of the game. Then behind everything in the background I have one of those MAME retro arcade videos playing, along with one of the arcade ambience tracks.

It also supports command line launching, which many Xbox emulators support, so you can list many arcade games directly in the main dash (Unfortunately MAMEoX doesn't support it, but FBA-XXX does, and hopefully this CoinOps Ignite does).

It plays Mortal Kombat without sound.

NBA JAM I haven't tested yet.

Well, thats a start at least. Are there any emulators that run the Mortal Kombat arcade games for the Xbox?

I was aware of the Arcade Treasures pack and the bonus disc with Armageddon that had MK1 on it. The fact that those are basically MAME ports makes me wonder why they won't run on Xbox MAME. Plus they load and require me to leave the front end completely to play.

Yeah it has a save game file that you must put in the T-Data (?) folder I believe before it will run.

found the save online and transferred to u/t data folder but still isnt running. boots to "press any button to continue" and freezes when I press anything. ......anyone?

This might sound silly but...did you put the roms in the ROMS folder? It might be the cause....I'll keep on researching.

yeah man I did.........

I really what dont know whats with these mame updates. older versions always worked fine. anything new is pretty much gurtendeed not to work. its not even a "messy" xbox with all kinds of crap in there. its brand new and doesnt have any games or emus in there. just random movies and music for my media center.

CoinOPS IGNITE R3, In final bug bash stage.......A new release is coming out soon with mouse/keyboard support. No lightgun support yet. I am still looking for some type of tutorial on this but no luck yet.

MK2,MK3 and UMK now speedup with sound - Still made autonosound as they run glitchy but playable now...hopefully we get more speed sometime (there is a CoinOPS/general/romstatus with midway soundhack.xml that can be renamed to romstatus.xml and then rescan that will disable the autosound for thoose games permanatly)

A lot of settings added around background sounds (both background music and video preview sounds)

More tweaks and more game input adjustments

can you map controls for all games at once? mapping controls for every game is really....really dumb. last I heard it wasnt possible because it could crash or something I dunno.

I found this info in another forum:

"The custom keymaps are located in CoinOPS\cfg\ folder and if you wish to change the keys delete the custom maps and add your own."

Hope it helps. I haven't tried it myself yet.
