Does the Wii Classic Controllers work on the gamecube console itself or they work on the Wii's only?

The Wii classic controller plugs into the Wiimote, not the console, so it's not going to work on the gamecube hardware.

glad I asked first I was going to grab one for the gamecube and it would not have worked.

Don't know if Nintendo was being evil or stupid, but there was no reason the Gamecube controllers should not have been pluggable into the WiiMotes.

I actually prefer it that way. That way, if i'm playing a gamecube game, at least that's one time i'm not using up the batteries...
