Preconfigured Front End
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:40:56 am »
I'm in the process of upgrading my original MAME box, which was an old Pentium 3 or some such, to another PC which I retired a few years ago.

After farting around with front ends, I think I've decided on MAMEWah.

My thought was this:

None of the emulators are "installed" in the sense that theres no setup.exe, nothing in the registry, no .dll's, etc. Just unzip to a directory and go. Has anyone ever come across a preconfigured setup whereas you could just unzip it (maintaining original paths) and everything is there and configured, just add your own roms (for legality sake).

Certainly some MAME expert out there has all of the emulators up and running (MAME, Daphne, NES, C64, etc) with snaps, marquees, etc, and could easily just zip up their directories(minus ROMs of course)?

Has anyone seen a package like that anywhere in their travels? (mala or mamewah preferred)

It is not mamewah nor mala.

But you can try , the AtomicFE 's ultimate distribution.   About 120 emulators preconfigured for you.
